ABC: Palin Pregnancy a 'Damaging Revelation'
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 09/01/2008 2:28:19 PM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

Bristol Palin's pregnancy is a "damaging revelation " that has caused Sarah Palin's image to "suffer." Says who? Says ABC News, in an article by Rick Klein and Jennifer Parker.

In Palin Pregnancy Rocks Political World, Klein and Parker report reaction from a variety of Republican and traditional-values sources. Every one, from Dr. James Dobson to Grover Norquist to Chuck Donovan of the Family Research Council to a pro-life delegate to the GOP convention who said "the fact that her daughter's keeping it and marrying the father is wonderful," had a positive reaction.

But what do they know? Declare Klein and Parker emphasis added]:

Palin's image may suffer further if more damaging revelations come out in the coming days and weeks.

We all prefer lots of different things...I wish McCain wasn’t our candidate. But we make due with what we have. :)

Often, the best revenge is success. Conservatives can do something that would annoy the heck out of liberal Democrats. Have children, and have more than two children.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Ok...Have children but DO NOT let liberal/Marxists near them!

This is especially true of our government K-12 schools and our colleges and universities. The Liberal/Marxists are not having children so they do all they can to steal the hearts and minds of the children of conservatives.

This is symptomatic of the average American family. I think this will draw many families who have endured these struggles to her. McCain and Palin are closer to the average Joe in this country than Hussein or Joe could ever possibly be. Anyway, if she were a liberal she would have forced her daughter to have an abortion. What would Hillary do? lol. In the end, Barak is going to wish McCain and Palin had been aborted at birth.

He consistently polls high and i think 1 out of 100 people won’t tell a poller they are voting McCain just so they don’t seem like racists or out-of-step with the MSM induced reality in this country.

If she were the daughter of a democratic candidate, the baby would have been aborted post haste and no one would have been the wiser. How’s that for hiding a pregnancy?

Yeah, they sure hope it’s damaging.

I wonder if they will publicly ask for a COLB.

Ha!

*snort* Only in the minds of libs like Obama, who don't think that teenaged girls should be 'punished' with a baby.

Do either Sarah, or Bristol, for that matter, look like they're suffering in that picture?

I do worry that the leftists will have some success with asking how this happened if Sarah was such a great mom and maybe she really shouldn’t be in the VP slot if she can’t take better care of what’s happening with her kids. You’ve gotta know that’s what’s coming next.

Based on the timing, it sounds like Bristol got pregnant right about the time that Trig was born. Considering the stress that her parents were under, it's not surprising they weren't paying as close attention as they might otherwise have. But even with parents who ARE paying attention, if a girl really wants to have sex, she'll do it.

It happens in the best of families, as we all know. The important thing is that they didn't try to force her to have an abortion to 'save face' since Sarah is Governor. They accepted it, and it sounds like Bristol and her boyfriend will be getting married.

The entire city of Wasilla knew it, it wasn’t a secret, and Bristol is openly wearing an engagement ring. I just watched Larry King Live and James Carville could not have been more firm in his belief that the pregnancy story is non-starter. He would not discuss it other than to say that it’s a Palin family issue and not a legitimate political issue. Earlier on CNN David Gergen, Gloria Borger and John King all either would not discuss the subject, much to Campbell Brown’s dismay, or said it was not an issue. Lastly, Juan Williams was really pissed on O’Reilly, he referred to DailyKos as “gutter” politics at it’s worst. He stated that the site makes a practice of trashing anyone who disagrees with them or is in their way, or any Repub for that matter. I have to admit it, I have newfound respect for Carville and Williams, but I can’t force myself to even faintly praise Gergen, Borger or John King. Nope, can’t do it.

Teaching Abstinence in school might take a hit

You're SO right!! Decades of explicit sex ed in public schools resulted in the eradication teen pregnancy, teen abortion, and venereal disease!!! Didn't it?

Abstinence teaching doesn't always work - and neither does sex ed. The fact is, teens often make poor judgments. Whether that is to engage in unprotected sexual activity after abstinence education or after sex ed, the result is the same. It doesn't help much that society and the media celebrate sex, sex, sex. Self-control is rarely celebrated.

The MSM's attacks on Palin and her family are some of the most shameful things I've ever witnessed. They are desperate to create a negative meme in the hope that it catches the country's imagination.

If anyone had any doubts that the MSM has a hard-left bias, this ought to do it for them.

Sorry, didn’t mean to come off like I was. I had the same first reaction myself. However, I’ve had with them blowing everything our side does into a huge issue and having people go along with it. They have to get a few bloody noses from this stuff instead of the usual routine of not dignifying the reports with a response. And somewhere, a surrogate or three needs to go out there and bring up Al Gore’s kid and his lawbreaking and the other things that get ignored and ask the MSM why they didn’t say anything about those. That’s how the RATS do it with their surrogates like Michael Moore and we need to do some ourselves.

Palin's pregnancy is a problem, but Barrack's unfettered philosophy on destruction of babies within the womb isn't?

The world is upside down.
