ST. PAUL -- The 17-year-old daughter of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is pregnant, Palin said on Monday in an announcement intended to knock down rumors by liberal bloggers that Palin faked her own pregnancy to cover up for her child.

In order to Bork Mrs. Palin, first one must undermine Mr. Palin.

Exactly what I've been trying to say.

Thank you.

They will not admit it but that's exactly what they are doing. You cannot make the "she needs to be at home to take care of the children" argument with out it.

I'm sick of it.

I don’t think that is the issue at all.

I think the issue is when this happens do you leave your teenager at home and take a demanding job far away.

As for McCain, do you select a person who has that going on?

My best friend is very career oriented (head of public works for a city in Texas, and on the school board, plus several other positions). Her husband got non-hodgkins lymphoma a few years ago. I was the one telling her that she had tooo much on her plate at that time. She knew it, but she needed someone to remind her. She was just trying to do everything, and sometimes you can’t.

Now, my friend’s husband has been cancer free for several years, so she can do more again.

Bill Clinton and the Blue Dress were also in the national spotlight. And he picked up House seats after they hugged him. But let’s put that aside: “Bork Palin!”

I saw the comments in DU about Trig being Bristols’ child before Sarah even came on stage. They deleted them and now everyone thinks DailyKos started the rumor. DU had a link about where the story was first talked about and it went to Obamas website. Alan Colmes also deleted his whole page blog where this was being talked about.

I’m not doing anything except speaking the truth when others here are so blinded that they want to ignore the problems.

I imagined, knowing McCain, that there were problems we didn’t know about. He wouldn’t actually hand us a real conservative without there being a catch.

I might still vote for her, if she is as conservative as they say. I think she’s a lousy parent, but many good politicians have been lousy parents.

I’m not going to pretend she’s our messiah, as many here are doing. Following the Dem pattern of ignoring the truth just to have a candidate to stand behind isn’t the conservative way. Or didn’t used to be

"honor student, athlete, college-bound "

And you wrote that kids don't think? You're kid did his own work, doesn't he? He understands the consequences of his actions, yes?

Smart people - ALL PEOPLE - screw up. We're human. It's how he deal with hardships, mistakes and tragedies, that defines us. We must not helicopter over our children.

Palin’s pregnant daughter is NOT a political football.

But the poor girl as, as the baby will be. You think the press will not print another story on them again?

“I’m sorry but I DO judge the moral character and personal lives of the politicians that I intend to vote for.”

So are you going to vote for mccain/palin in spite of the mistake Gov. Palin’s made?

or are you just pushing your agenda ad nauseum in this thread.

He could get us Obama!

Only if you and others here are successful in you attempt to discredit Sara Palin.

“I think she’s a lousy parent”

I respect your analysis after living with the family for 20 years and watching all of the children grow up.

The Ron Paul Kooks are turning into the useful idiots of the left. Now, in order to undermine McCain, they are trying to Savage this family. Speaking of Savage, God knows what he might talk about tonight. Perhaps the Bork Palin Crowd will find a spokesman on his program.

Because that's how democrats work - the sleazier the candidate, the more popular they are. If a Republican were to do that, they'd be out the door. We have values, they just want to win at all costs.

I'm not saying she won't make a good VP. But I'm not being blinded to the problems like many here. Her daughter is being used. If my now 17 year old were to get his girlfriend pregnant, I would 1) not put it in the national spotlight and 2) encourage them to adopt, adopt, adopt for the good of the child! Teenage parents being hounded by reporters is not a good way to start out. Nobody seems to be thinking of the baby.

My view on Romney, frequently mis-characterized around here, is that of the remaining dudes after Fred got out he had good personal character and seemed to have a clue as to how the economy worked. As far as I am concerned on the issues I care about he is at least as Conservative as McCain. Plus he did not attack Viet Nam Navy vets to prop up that fool John Kerry like McCain did.

Romney has never been my ideal candidate but given the choice between him and McCain it is Romney. I do not like his changing of the mind on abortion and his healthcare in MA is a mess that needs fixing.

On abortion. People seem to forgive some people for many things, ahem, but refuse to forgive Romney.

Ok now all you that want to accuse me of being a Romneybot, Be warned I wrote some JavaScript that blocks your posts on my screen so save the bandwidth for others to use.

Well, the cow is out of the barn, in more ways than one.

If Palin were to withdraw, that would be a huge blow politically. And I don’t believe they are parading the girl—they did not announce this until forced to. Yes, she will be there for a swearing in, but I doubt pregnant or not, she would spend much time campaigning. Doesn’t she have school?

Also, if this couple is mature enough to marry and take care of the child, then they should do it. Levi can get a job and Bristol stays home. When the child is a little older she could go back to school or work part-time. Why does mom need to be there? If they are not prepared, put the baby up for adoption. It is nice if there is family support, but some of us manage to have children with no family nearby and raise them without free babysitting.

“Palin’s pregnant daughter is NOT a political football.”

I wish that were true. And the other kids are not football either. Look at first I supported this. Now I think it is a bad choice politically and for the family. My opinion.

I can say that she’s a 17 year old female and made her own decisions. No one can watch another person 24 hours a day, and the last I checked chastity belts are no longer fashionable.

I can say that it’s odd that the issue of being able to raise children and still be president didn’t come up with Barak Obama.

The whole thing is an elitist attack (with sexist undergirdings) against average Americans.
