ST. PAUL -- The 17-year-old daughter of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is pregnant, Palin said on Monday in an announcement intended to knock down rumors by liberal bloggers that Palin faked her own pregnancy to cover up for her child.

Admission infers that something was intentionally hidden. She announced, not admitted.
She did not mention it before because it is none of yours or my damn business
Well said & worth repeating.
“Nobody argued that it’s OK for a teen to have sex and get pregnant. “
That is not true.
I couldn’t watch it. It makes me feel dirty.
I would expect nothing less than the first (conservative) female VP of the United States to set a good example for other families across this great country of ours.
Let me put my tinfoil hat on for a minute. You know how certain kids do "bad" things because they don't want their parents to become famous, if it interferes with their own life?
Is it possible Bristol intentionally got pregnant in hopes it would keep her mom (and, by extension, her) in Alaska?
I knew Palin was potential VP material a year ago or longer (before I signed up here) so of course her family would have known too.
How many young high school kids would want to move from Alaska to Washington D.C. and have to leave all their friends?
/tinfoil hat off
She is wearing a ring of some sort on her left hand. I thought maybe it was a promise ring or an engagement ring. Poor child probably put it on her left hand to keep people from gossiping.
That would depend on the circumstances. Some married people have kids when they shouldn’t.
I am not on a witch hunt. McCain handled this badly. My opinion is that the family needs to spent time working on this “mistake” as you call it. The tabloids will be all over this.
I’m not saying anybody is perfect. Teen pregnancy is not good.
Much better dealing with an issue like this outside the glare. If you think this is going away you have another thing coming.
Actually, what is said in this forum is not what’s so important as what the likely voters will think. And frankly, I think most people tend to be more down-to-earth. There was amazingly high support for Clinton with the blue dress. And frankly, I think that the blue dress matter was 100 times worse than this.
It almost costed him the election. But Todd Palin isn't running for anything. How people could hold his DUI against Sarah is beyond me.
I flip on CBS Morning show just to see the libs in action- and they’re doing a segment on teen pregnancy-— how conveeeenient......
Please leave that tinfoil hat off. :)
Nobody “has to” get married anymore. MY grandaughter is going to marry her babys father but after she gets out of school and they are better off financially. I think its a smart move.
“I am not on a witch hunt. McCain handled this badly. My opinion is that the family needs to spent time working on this mistake as you call it.”
Remember the Blue Dress? Remember how badly Bill Clinton handled that? Voters rallied around the DNC. The Saints of the Free Republic are wa ..... ay out of touch with the American Voter.
Kind of amazing...the attacks on those that respectfully think the Palin’s have larger issues than being VP to deal with.
And those that think teen pregnancy is not OK.
I don’t mean to use you particularly as the reason for my comments, but since you are in a similar situation, maybe you can lend me the benefit of your experience.
Why in the world is adoption not being mentioned? It’s not even been mentioned by the most rabid posters on this thread.
Of course it is not in the best interests of a child to be raised by teens, no matter what the support system. There are so many wonderful married, mature couples waiting for a healthy baby to love. Why don’t these young people consider adoption?
You wrote:
“Can it judger.
Just can it big boy.”
“However, Obama scares the **** out of me.”
Me too. That is why I worry about McCain. He could easily flub this whole thing up. His decision making in the past is terrible - like attacking the Swift Boat Vets for Truth - probably more responsible than anything else for the defeat of John Kerry.
I think you are confusing acceptance with approval.
I like the way Dennis Prager describes his position. “Standards in the macro, compassion in the micro.”
I have a 17yo son who, knock wood and hoping and praying, is not yet sexually active. I talk to him more than he likes about all these issues. He knows where we stand. But if his girlfriend became pregnant, what should we say? Get the heck out of my house, sinner? You have to love and support your children in order to ensure the health and well-being of the next generation, if for no other reason.
I also read on another thread that in DU they were posting a link where the source of the Sarah/Bristol/Trig rumor started from and it took you to Obamas official website. Of course those posts were removed.
