I don’t mean to use you particularly as the reason for my comments, but since you are in a similar situation, maybe you can lend me the benefit of your experience.

Why in the world is adoption not being mentioned? It’s not even been mentioned by the most rabid posters on this thread.

Of course it is not in the best interests of a child to be raised by teens, no matter what the support system. There are so many wonderful married, mature couples waiting for a healthy baby to love. Why don’t these young people consider adoption?

This is Alaska we are talking about, the culture is different there. It’s like a cross between the Modern lower 48 and U.S. pioneer days...The youngsters are probably light years mature compared to the ones down here.

Who are we to make any suggestions, except not to have an abortion? Can you imagine if someone found out they had adopted the grandchild of the VP of the U.S.? That works well.

Why on earth would they put the baby up for adoption? They are surrounded by a loving and supportive family. They’ll do just fine.

That is so wrong on so many levels. A child is ALWAYS better off with family, and yes, the support system is one of the most important things that matter.

As a blanket statement of fact, that has to be one of the most ridiculous statements EVER made.

There are bad teen parents and there are good teen parents.

There are bad mature parents and there are good mature parents.

There are teen parents that are more mature than middle-aged parents.

Is life more difficult for teen parents?...as a rule, yes.

But, to say, point blank, that it is better for a child, born to a teen, to be adopted out is, point blank, asinine. Period. IMO.

UMMMM? Maybe because they love and want this baby and the baby is their flesh and blood. Who are you to say what is in this child’s best interest. The best interest of a child is to have a loving family. This one does!
