ST. PAUL -- The 17-year-old daughter of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is pregnant, Palin said on Monday in an announcement intended to knock down rumors by liberal bloggers that Palin faked her own pregnancy to cover up for her child.

That is simply not true....Republicans simply do not act in bad taste. They expose the truth about the candidates and their issues....but attacking the children would never happen. Democrats are the lowest...

Re: Churchill: From Wikipedia:

Born two months premature on 30 November 1874 in a bedroom in Blenheim Palace, Woodstock, Oxfordshire; he arrived eight months after his parents' hasty marriage.

Cutting it close, but who's counting?

My youngest daughter's birthday is also on Nov 30th. One of these days I'll have to get around to reading his biography.

It's a shame Xenalyte you stopped posting. I was looking forward to your answer.

The commnet and question remain for when you come back.

Reagan was probably our best president. You do realize that the Reagans married on March 4, 1952 and Patti was born Oct 21, 1952, right?

Would you have cast your vote for Reagan? Aren't you glad enough of us did?

In the case of this thread, it’s a sanctimonious layer cake with Willard-creme icing.

I guess unless someone is so much better than all the other republicans, then I would excuse this. However, that is not the case.

And just who would be good enough for you to excuse?

Take a look at what Rev. James Dobson says about it: Dobson on Bristol Palin's Pregnancy

When we were in college, the younger sister of one of my HS friends got pregnant in her freshman year. we were sophmores. There was a shotgun wedding, both families were practicing Catholics, one was italian the other was polish. That young couple had that baby. With parental support [parents continued paying tuition], and sibling help [there were 3 of the guy's siblings at U of Pitt and my friend, sister of the wife was there as well] they graduated, the wife with a degree in nursing and the husband did well enough to get into and graduate from Pitt's dental school. they have 5 sons now and are still married. This happened in 1976. Unwed pregnancy, while not optimal, is not a tragedy.

i am not very proud of my freeper friends on this thread. lots of ammo for DU to use against us here. it is sad, really.

Obviously the Palin’s need to get closer to the kids.

Anyone who would make such a statement is either a complete fool or a wanker for some other candidate.

Obama much?

Man, I sure hope you’re right... Though not my first pick, she’s fantastic in every way... S-— happens, and her daughter’s now doing the exact right thing... I just worry about the political consequences

I am beginning to think that this is less about Bristol’ ... pregnancy and more about a bunch of disaffected [folks] attempting to hurt the McCain campaign.

-—<>-—<>-—<>-—<>-—<>-—

Whether that is true or not, and it may be a big part, I don’t deny them their concerns about this. The way the family, and by extension the campaign, deal with the issue will affect the future of America! It is silly to minimize that! As you may have read, MY first reaction was “OH NO”... and I really had to examine the situation, and I’ve been high on Palin for at least six months!

People need to digest this carefully, and what it means for them and to them and to their vote. Post#1107 is addresses this very well.

I don’t know what the rules are, but can this post (1835) be deleted? FR does not need to have this about a 17 year old girl

This does absolutely nothing positive for McCain's campaign. NOTHING! His chances of winning have taken a huge hit. Just watch.

Perhaps someone else needs to keep his emotions in check also? You don't sound like a fool, but you do sound bitter.

Me too. And if Sarah and Todd spent more time with the girls. I don’t agree that parents are not responsible for their children. People can blast me for that if they want.

No problem.

You seem to be a presumptive, self-righteous stone-thrower who has no notion of the real world. You're propagating liberal talking points and enabling Democrats by playing directly into their hand.

History shows us that people who are thusly manipulated by their political enemies are particularly useful in their enemies' political campaigns.

The term that comes to mind is "Useful Idiots."

There is nothing sinful in having a child. The act which led to the conception of the child was wrong. But that action is in the past and should be forgiven. Now we should encourage and help her as she does the difficult task of growing up and becoming a responsible wife and mother.

Everything you posted was over the top, out of line and wrong.

OK, let's find out!

In 1952 Nancy Davis wasn't 17 years old

I never wrote that she was. In fact, I pointed out that her unwed pregnancy was worse because her and Ronald Reagan's fornication was committed as adults without youth as a mitigating factor. You complained in your post #1614 about Bristol having an "unwed teen pregnancy". Was it only the "teen" that bothers you? There was nothing "over the top, out of line and wrong" in that statement or this one.

and Ronald Reagan wasn't the GOP nominee for VPOTUS.

Now, he was later the GOP nominee for POTUS. Did you hold his previous lack of judgment against him then as much as you are holding Bristol Palin's lack of judgment against SARAH Palin now? If not, why not? There was nothing "over the top, out of line and wrong" in that question or this one.

Your remarks are fictitious.

That statement itself is certainly a lie. Which of my remarks do you consider fictitious? Please quote them.

Your attempt to link Sarah Palin's daughters pregnancy with the situation involving what Ronald and Nancy Reagan went through, is pathetic.

I was accurately pointing out the clear hypocrisy of someone with your screen name condemning someone for her daughter's sins and not Ronald Reagan for his own analogous sins. There was nothing "over the top, out of line and wrong" in that statement or this one.

IMO, there is no linkage, whatsoever.

Yes, that deliberate oversight is what makes you a hypocrite!

One thing is true. Both situations contained matters related to poor judgment by all parties concerned.

Yet you only seem willing to condemn someone for their daughter's poor judgment and not their own. I really am beginning to think that this is less about Bristol's unfortunate pregnancy and more about a bunch of disaffected Ronpaulians, Romneyites, and Obamanics hurting the McCain campaign.

I'm beginning to think you're making ALL this up as you go along.

What exactly do you think I am "making up"? Your hypocrisy in this matter is clear for all to see.

Again, I will be voting for McCain in November.

Sure you will! Your blatant attempts to publicly call his judgment into question and attack his running mate for her daughter's sins coupled with your alleged voting preference is laughable. There was nothing "over the top, out of line and wrong" in anything I have written here. You need to go back to troll school!

I don't think anyone's giving Bristol Palin a "pass," or condoning this behavior. She's not taking one, either - she is marrying the husband. That is, BTW, the biblical remedy (see Ex. 22:16). She and Levi made a choice to engage in grown-up activities, and they are doing the honorable thing and taking responsibility for that choice. They will pay for their choice - this will not be a bed of roses for them, and they know that. They are not expecting others to pay for the choice, however. They are handling the situation in the honorable way as it now stands, the dishonorable circumstances notwithstanding, regardless of what might have been. They are, like most Americans, living in reality with the consequence of their decisions.

Pray for the Palin family, and esp. for Bristol and Levi.
