Palin Pick Causes 'Elation' among Evangelical Leaders
cbn ^

Posted on 08/29/2008 9:23:20 AM PDT by flyfree

Wow. Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is John McCain's pick for Vice-President. Folks, this is s close to a game changer as you can get.

Let me give you some instant reaction. I can tell you that The Brody File has been talking to multiple sources in the conservative Evangelical community and the reaction has been EXTREMELY POSITIVE. As a matter of fact, I am told that when conservative leaders heard the news this morning at a meeting at the Council for National Policy, one attendee told me that there is "nothing but elation. People are giddy. They are energized and they now believe that in fact this campaign has the ability to win this election."

“Sarah Palin - pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-drilling, small government, strong defense, fiscal conservative, butt kicker. Hope some of it rubs off on McCain. And an Army Mom to boot! I may even be able to support this ticket.”

You’re going to be hard pressed to find a FReeper who opposes Sen. McCain more than I do. Yet, honesty demands giving credit where credit is due. Sen. McCain just knocked the ball out of the park.

A concern that I’ve had is that the GOP and it’s candidate would simply throw a well-gnawed bone to conservatives to secure their grudging support. No. Sen. McCain just gave conservatives a steak dinner at the best restaurant in town, with the promise of an ownership share in the restaurant.

I won’t vote for Sen. McCain. But I would vote for Gov. Palin in a New York second. The fact that Sen. McCain is also on that ticket....well, I don’t like that. But I might be able to ignore it as I vote for Gov. Palin for V.P.

I’m glad to hear that Evangelical leaders are pleased with the choice. I figured they would come on board when they got to know her, but this is great if they’re already positive about her.

As for being an “unknown,” she has plenty of executive experience, as mayor and as governor, and as someone who has gotten reelected and is popular with the voters. So she’s electable as well as good on the issues.

And she’s very exciting as a person. Obama can talk about his much loved wife and kids, but we’ve all seen what kind of person Michelle is, and we know he’d have aborted those kids in a minute if they hadn’t been convenient.

She has put her money where her mouth is, having a Downs Syndrome kid, loving him, wanting him, and willing to take care of him. As it happens, I’ve known a number of Downs Syndrome people, and they are great—very warm and loving, once you get past the initial, superficial impression.

What are the chances that Obama would have let such a child live?

In other words, this is a REAL, loving family, not a media construct orchestrated by script writers and hair stylists.

Guess the Queen of England should have never had kids.

Sarah is a loving, working mother....no different from myself. I can remember working 80 hours a week.

What do I care about...as a woman...her morals...

As an American...she speaks of "We The People". I can't ask for more....

I’ve been pretty committed to Barr for a while now because I have had enough of John McCain’s maverick over the years. But I am torn now that Palin is the pick. I am going to have to seriously reconsider the third party thing. An excellent choice for McCain.

I agree.

McCain’s campaign has been the best run I’ve ever seen... and I’ve been a political junkie for 40 years.

Palin is the one choice McCain could have made that would make me change my mind about voting for him. The experts were saying she was out of it. Now I have to eat my words when I said his VP pick wouldn’t change my mind. This choice might. Palin is going to shine on the campaign trail. A stumbling idiot like Biden will get destroyed in the debates.

“Palin for President! (eventually)”

Exactly. We as conservative have been whining and moaning about the lack of appealing conservatives at the national level. That there is no Ronald Reagan waiting in the wings.

Well. We might not get another Ronald Reagan. But I’ll be more than happy to settle for a young American version of Margaret Thatcher.

Palin was brilliant in expressing her thanks to Geraldine Ferraro and Hillary Clinton for blazing the way. If they attack her after that, they will not look good

Not only excellent on content but excellent on the basic mechanics of public speaking.

If this speech is any indicator she is the best public speaker of the four.
