Lousy choice. I’m afraid he just handed the White House Obama. God help us!

How the heck is he supposed to make a campaign issue out of Obama’s inexperience when he’s got a running mate with 2 years as governor of a sparsely populated state while being a full-time mother, um, on the side? And what does it say about the Republican Party’s commitment to “family values”, when it sees fit to nominate a mother of 5 children, including a disabled, still-nursing infant, to be VP and step in as POTUS if necessary?

There’s got to be a huge celebration going on in Obama-land right now. And we’d better all be praying that Obama pulls off some really HUGE screw-up between now and Election Day.

Mark Levin's take on "inexperience":

From a purely tactical aspect, Palin would knock the legs out from under Obama's monopoly hold on "change." And attacks on her "inexperience" will only highlight one of Obama's greatest vulnerabilities — and he's at the top of the Democrat ticket. And because Hillary Clinton spent months telling women voters that they are being dissed by Obama, some percentage of women who normally would not vote for McCain will take a second look if Palin's on the ticket. There is no question that a Palin selection would cause the Obama camp headaches.

LOL. It' STILL more than Obama. She's also been a mayor and held actual jobs.

You're a glass half empty kind of guy, aren't you? This is a great pick...far superior to any of the other choices that were mentioned.

It says a lot. She has a husband, doesn't she? I'm sure she can handle being VP and a mom too.

Obama is inexperienced and running for President. McCain is experienced and running against him. Gov. Palin is not running for president.

Obama is in a bad position to make her inexperience an issue. He is not running against her.

The more inexperience becomes an issue the better for McCain. - Tom

Palin is not a nod to feminazi pressure like Ferraro was. Her life is in complete contrast to that of feminazi dogma. Wife, full time mother and homemaker. Her resume is very attractive to millions of married women voters. Her only strike against is inexperience in foreign affairs but McCain doesn't need gravitas there. She's a very popular governor in Alaska. This helps McCain in swing states. Obama could have chosen Hillary but went with a Washington insider old white male. And the age contrast couldn't be more strongly apparent on the bottom half of the ticket, this time in reverse!

Sarah's 2 years as governor plus her business experience trumps Obambi's heralded career as a legislator and socialist/activist in a heavily democrat region of the country. She's actually led - he's always followed. And, she's led to the right while he's followed the leadings of Marxism. No match.

Best of all, she's a genuine conservative!

You must think the Prez needs to work 14 hour days like a Hitler instead of some nice six hour days like a Reagan. The best chief executive makes good appointments and then referees diferences between them. The best is a laid back Chairman of the Board, smoking his pipe or eating his Jelly Bellies and making earthshaking decisions with ease. A mother of five can handle this easily.

McCain landslide in November!!!!

He can't.

He has taken the inexperience issue off the table. He can't criticize Obama's lack of experience when his own #2 has no national experience and only eighteen months in statewide office. She's clearly not ready to be President, so that issue's gone forever.

McCain is clearly gambling two things:

  1. that the drilling issue will carry the day; and
  2. Women will vote identity politics first and foremost.

I don't know, seems like a stretch in both cases. It's a gutsy pick on McCain's part, but since it throws away one of his strengths I don't see it as a particularly smart one.

Sorry large, but you’re DEAD wrong.

This was a brilliant pick for McCain. Her conservative credentials are rock-solid. And don’t spew your crap about how the pick is anti-family values when she is raising an infant with down syndrome (as you alluded to). That shows her commitment to family values and McCain’s as well.

In short, stuff it. For awhile.

Hah

Because she has the most executive experience of any candidate in the field, which is the only relevant experience. Also, she is running for VP and their inexperienced candidate is running for Pres.

Sounds like somewhere there is a bridge going unprotected right now while you're doing this.

She’s got the same amount of experience as the Democrat nominee for PRESIDENT! I don’t think Obama’s people want to ‘go there’ in pointing up her inexperience. McCain is ready to step right into the Presidency, without any experience on the part of his Veep. Obama had to choose someone with the experience of Biden, because he DOESN’T have that experience on his own.

While I share your concerns, remember that Obama IS a “really huge screwup” all by himself. (Never mind with Biden on the ticket.)

Once the initial exhilaration passes (today, you’d think he picked the Dionne Quintuplets), McCain’s choice will be attacked for her scanty credentials, but that just helps turn the harsh light on Obama, whose resume is not only thin, it includes hinky fund-raising with an unrepentant terrorist.

And after all, McCain could have done so much worse. Former Democrats and pro-abortion pols (and some former pro-abortion pols!). At least he picked a conservative!
