With John McCain on the verge of selecting his running mate, Republican delegates have selected former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney as their top choice for the Republican vice presidential slot.
Romney was chosen by 38 percent of delegates in a new CBS News/New York Times poll, far ahead of the second place finisher, former Arkansas governor and presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, who was selected by 7 percent of delegates attending the Republican National Convention in St. Paul.
Tom Ridge, the former Pennsylvania governor, and Tim Pawlenty, the Minnesota governor, were each selected by 4 percent of delegates surveyed. Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, and Alaska Governor Sarah Palin were each selected by 2 percent.

Be still my heart.
So how would you poll all the Repub delegates? Aren’t they in every state, city etc.?
Well, that settles it. If Romney is the top choice of delegates, it won’t be Romney. McCain loves pis*ing on the base.
This would be the politically tone deaf crowd. If Huckabee is the VP pick, it's a bloodbath for the Republicans at all levels of government. It may be anyway, but double the magnitude if Huckabee is on the ticket.
I don’t even see Cantor mentioned. I don’t know about this.
So is this the 6:00 (Denver time) leak? Drudge says all will be on stage tomorrow....
Mitt, if Evangelicals could get over their hatred of his Mormonism, Mitt could make this a landslide for McPain.
And McCain is their top POTUS pick, so what.
LOL! Personally, I think this “leak” is because the Dems really want Romney, who would virtually guarantee a loss.
I don’t think, btw, that the candidate should be any of those who have already lost an election (the primaries). For one thing, there is way too much residual bitterness among their followers. It should be someone who is fresh and from outside of the whole primary process.
“If Huckabee is the VP pick, it’s a bloodbath for the Republicans at all levels of government.”
Governor Huckabee would not be a good choice, but he would do less damage than a Governor Romney as the VP running mate. If Senator McCain picks Romney, he has blown it. Even Huckabee is a better choice than Romney.
I could live with Romney.
I recall reading a posting here on FR a while back, in which polling showed that Romney greatly improved McCain’s chances in Michigan, which would go a good ways toward winning the election for him.
I also recall reading that Romney _might_ also help McCain in Nevada, which - at the moment - looks like it’s going to go to Obama.
This is EXACTLY why the right VP pick can become critical this time around.
If Romney can deliver electoral votes for McCain, for me, that’s a good-enough reason to have him on the ticket....

correct
These kinds of toons and youtube boners are going to be splattered all over the media. Mitt will spend all his time tell the MSM that he is a conservative and no he is not the whore of the Chinese and no he is not a slick hedge fund manager...etc...etc....etc....Just unacceptable...
