Here in Denver, it's easy to blame the Clintons. Out on the convention floor, their diehards are there with their Hillary buttons, plotting to run in 2012, whining on about the 18 million cracks in that glass ceiling, secretly wishing John McCain will win in November. Truth is, the Obama people feel, they lost - get over it!
And Bill's all upset about being accused of being racist? Well, if the cap fits! And what about Hillary talking about hard-working white people? A favourite badge here for Obama loyalists is "Hard working white person for Hillary." The Clintons feel dissed? But they have half the convention! Hillary speaks tonight and Bill speaks tomorrow. She's getting a roll call vote. In her speech, Michelle Obama even talked about those 18 million cracks.
But this kind of thinking is exactly how to lose to McCain. It's the Obama people who need to get over it - and quickly. Continuing to bear a grudge will only help McCain. But since June it seems he's failed to take even basic steps to placate the Clintons and their supporters. He's given Hillary some public things he didn't have to do - such as the roll call vote - but missed out the small pleasantries and behind the scenes stuff that could have really made the difference.
At this stage, the rights and the wrongs don't really matter. Did Hillary demean Obama? Did Bill play the race card? It's of only academic relevance right now. Obama won and he needs Clinton supporters on board. Yet he's hardly spoken to Bill Clinton and he's made it clear by omission that he doesn't see a former two-term president as a potential wise counsel.
He let Clinton supporters believe that Hillary might be his veep choice when she wasn't

This is because the Emperor Who Wears No Clothes thinks he has this election wrapped up. That has been evident from the Presidentialesque seal, the O Force One and everything else he has presented himself to be.
McCain runs an ad about how Obama failed the Clintons by not considering the Beast for VP. He then decides to announce the VP candidate on Friday. X42 cautiously encourages democrats not to vote for Osama. Mutliple rats consider voting GOP because of what happened between Osama and the Beast........................McCain picks the Beast as the GOP vice presidential candidate on Friday............Now I need to go throw up, my tinfoil beanie is too tight.
Bill Kristol proposed almost that very scenario, including recommending a McCain/Clinton ticket, on Fox News Sunday.
Let’s have a show of hands...how many think McCain is capable of picking the Hildebeest for Veep??
???
I don’t know if he is capable of doing it, but I sure the he** hope he doesn’t!
The Clintons best chance at this point is to angle for a Mccain victory and then a Hillary in 2012 comeback.
I believe that it was Clinton that turned down Obama for this reason. They do not want Obama elected for that would ruin their opportunity in 2012. The Obama people had to know what Hillary would bring to them if selected as the V.P. candidate. The Clintons are purposely undermining the Obama campaign at the convention to help push him off the edge.
The exploding heads would almost make it worth it.
Headline snicker!................
When you live by the sword you die by the sword. The Clintons have always been about ‘divide and conquer’. Eventually all narcissism and otherwise self-centered behavior is seen for what it is. The number one criterion for a ‘leader’, in my book, is humility. There is always someone smarter, better, stronger. If one is driven by the desire to do good, irrespective of self or acquisition of credit, one can do great things. If driven by a sense of destiny one will always fall short.
unfortunately most of ours would be among them too...
Emphasis on the "almost".
A common failing amongst those unaccustomed to leading.
His arrogance leads him to believe that since he won, Hillary should be bowing and scraping to him.
A leader realizes that since it is his responsibility to win, he must avail himself of all means.
Hillary Clinton wants to derail Obama so she can be the Democrat presidential nominee in 2012, not so she can be the GOP vice presidential nominee in 2008.
Heh, yeah, do you really want to write "blown it" in the same line as "Bill Clinton?"
Probably. and he'll most likely regret it, too. Even if he wins. And more so if he loses.
Apparently you missed the insult that Obama laid on Hillary last week, he said that he had never considered her for VP, hadn't vetted her and never gave having her as VP a thought. That really ticked off the PUMAs as you might guess. So, no, Hillary didn't turn Obama down, she would have probably but she was never given the chance.
I was going there but decided to leave it alone.
These kinda things just write themselves!............
