I can't wait for this tape from early in his 1988 presidential campaign to turn up:
Most of Mr. Biden's statement was in response to a report in this week's issue of Newsweek magazine on a tape recording made by the C-SPAN network of an appearance by Mr. Biden at a home in Claremont, N.H., on April 3. It was a typical coffee-klatch style appearance before a small group. The network regularly records and broadcasts such events as part of its coverage of the Presidential campaign.
The tape, which was made available by C-SPAN in response to a reporter's request, showed a testy exchange in response to a question about his law school record from a man identified only as ''Frank.'' Mr. Biden looked at his questioner and said: ''I think I have a much higher I.Q. than you do.''
He then went on to say that he ''went to law school on a full academic scholarship - the only one in my class to have a full academic scholarship,'' Mr. Biden said. He also said that he ''ended up in the top half'' of his class and won a prize in an international moot court competition. In college, Mr. Biden said in the appearance, he was ''the outstanding student in the political science department'' and ''graduated with three degrees from college.''
Mr. Biden acknowledged that in the testy exchange in New Hampshire, he had lost his temper. ''I exaggerate when I'm angry,'' Mr. Biden said, ''but I've never gone around telling people things that aren't true about me.'' Mr. Biden's questioner had made the query in a mild tone, but provoked an explosive response from Mr. Biden.
That's from the New York Times; hat tip to Mickey Kaus.
Does this matter that much? Does it disqualify Biden from being veep? Of course not. I post it because I think he's gonna be a gaffe machine if chosen, and people who only know him from coverage of the past two weeks aren't hearing much about his history of gaffes, just that he's blabby.
If I’m not mistaken, Biden lied about his achievements in college. Then confesses that he ‘exaggerates’ when he’s angry. Interesting. A perfect match for BO.
When others say you talk too much what they mean is that you’re telling things they were trying to hide.
86th.
I bet what he wanted to say was “he’s a credit to his race”.
Since when is 99% truth not good enough?
Angry? Hmmm, another angry white man, eh?
LOL..strange that this grown man quickly touts his (so-called) academic achievements. Wow, at only 20-30 years later this is what he boasts about, even if it is true - who cares? Obviously he has done nothing worthwhile since those days (that he exaggerated about). It takes a very insecure person to stand in front of a crowd and expect them to be impressed with what you did in college. Grow up, Biden, your boasting about your days as an undergraduate is so immature and petty. Do you really think we should feel humble in your presence for some reason? Why didn’t you tell us about high school and grade school records also? I mean, your childhood and how you faired at sandbox play should be so important to us also. Ugh.
Joe Biden's 1988 gaffe and his explanation: ''I exaggerate when I'm angry''
Well said.
Duct tape is in order.
Notice the hairline in that vid. He’s got more hair now than then. Plug away!
“76th in a class of 85”
Just like Olde Frothingslosh Beer! “The foam is on the bottom!”

Exaggerate?? Most people call it lying. Of course, the MSM identifies it as “nuance.”
Obama had to be careful not to choose someone that would make people say, “Hey, how come we aren’t running that guy for PRESIDENT??”
LOL. Exactly. Plus he found one who’d point out Barak was “clean and articulate” even though he’d also point out Barak is “not ready to be president.
It will also be fun when Obama’s pay grade comment to Rick Warren and Biden’s pay grade comment to Scott Ritter make it into an ad together.
So, was Joe ‘ANGRY’ today when he called Barack ‘Barack America’ today in the Veep coming-out campaign rally?
“Obama had to be careful not to choose someone that would make people say, Hey, how come we arent running that guy for PRESIDENT??”
Well, what makes you think people aren’t asking that NOW?
That’s not a gaffe.
Democrats have been known to pad their resumes.
