McCain picks Romney, say hello to President Obama! Romney = millions of Mormon scare-emails and phone bank attacks. That will wipe out the religion advantage the GOP has over Obama. Every white Democrat in my town believes BHO is a Muslim. Why would McCain want to dilute that? Romney would make a great Commerce Secretary. But he would sink the ticket.

hope so.
Hope so? You're wanting the ultra liberal McCain to have the ultra liberal Mitt as his VP?
If it's Mitt, the only weak conservatives still supporting McCain will jump ship. Bottom line, if you even consider voting for McCain you're a conservative without principles or a liberal. Conservatives do not abandon principles, and McCain stands for nothing conservative.
Hussein will be terrible for this country, but hopefully after getting it's butt handed to it again like it did in 2006, the GOP will realize a move to the center is not acceptable.

Romney only lost early on because the media was making a big deal out of his being Mormon-that offshoot branch of polygamists were having their scandal

WOW The MSM are mind readers and time travelers and prophets now...
They knew that TWO MONTHS after Romney had tried buy the White House and failed, that the polygamists would have “their scandal”
Romney dropped out Feb7
polygamists April 4
Yeah, right....
Its always someone else’s fault...

I will not be called up by someone who supports Romney. I thought you crated your list for McCain and now you are trying to sell us a fake, opportunistic commie. No thanks.
Excuse me. This has nothing to do with my McCain List. Show me once where I pinged the McCain List to solely promote Romney. I am allowed to and will continue to express my private opinion on VP possibilites seperate of the McCain List on this forum. (Notice I did not ping this thread.)
I conduct and have conducted all pings of the McCain List in a manner as evenhandedly as possible.
No where have I ever endorsed Romney through the McCain List nor under normal circumstances directly challenged ANY recepient of the McCain List on ANY thread where I issued a ping.

After Saddleback I can’t imagine what else McCain could do to “earn it.” Why do I think picking a conservative VP won’t be enough? I’ll keep the lights on for you.

I’d take Romney in a heartbeat.
I’d prefer him on top of the ticket, though.
Now if I really had my ‘druthers’ it would be a Thompson/Hunter ticket.

Why so rude? Don’t lump what other people post with me unless I respond. I’m sorry, but what Elsie posts is “fringe” stuff.
To: camerakid400
That’s fine with me. I think all the talk about Lieberman and Ridge was to scare folks enough to make Mitt look like a godsend.

If indeed it is Mitt, he is more than acceptable to me.
I have always liked Mitt; and unlike some at FR, I think he is genuinely a Conservative. I believe he cares about Conservative causes, and would be a great V.P.
Strategically, I think it's a very small step backwards as far as actual votes go. That is my only complaint. Philosophically, he is a great pick; strategically he is not a good pick.
That being said, I would gladly support the ticket. Perhaps his presence on the ticket will prompt die-hard supporters in the Great Salt Lake area to contact McCain HQs in Nevada, New Mexico, and Colorado. Those states, among others, could use all of the help they can get.
This might also be good enough for James Dobson to endorse the ticket, as he has grown fond of Mitt. Any small help in volunteers in Colorado, coupled with a Dobson endorsement, could make all the difference in the world in the key swing state of CO.
I'm still hoping for Palin, but I have no political qualms with Romney - just strategic ones. I would gladly support him.
