Pollution killing 21,000 Canadians this year: report

OTTAWA (AFP) - Air pollution this year will kill more than 20,000 Canadians, the Canadian Medical Association said Wednesday in a report.
The research on the human costs of pollution and pollution-related diseases estimated that around 21,000 people in Canada will die from breathing in toxic substances drifting in the air this year.
By 2031, short term exposure to air pollution will claim close to 90,000 lives in Canada, while long-term exposure will kill more than 700,000, the report said...

Is it that you don’t believe the specific numbers or that you don’t believe air pollution kills at all?
I think guessing at numbers is BS, but I don’t think there’s any question that air pollution can kill or hasten death.

I've never seen any thing that unequivocally verifies that. It's like trying to say that second hand cigarette smoke is just as or more dangerous than smoking a cigarette yourself which from a common sense point of view is bs...just like global warming...it's a hoax put on by the smoking nazis...IMHO opinion of course ;-)

Unequivocal? Little is. But it’s just common sense that breathing in crap is not good for your health. I don’t need unequivocal health studies for that. Why do you think so many athletes are avoiding the Beijing air for as long as they can?

So the numbers keep going up even though the air gets cleaner every day.
How many were dying back in the 60s and 70s I wonder? Maybe there really is nobody in Canada. They’re all dead.
