Excerpt -

GORI, Georgia, Aug 9 (Reuters) - Russia said it had driven Georgian forces from the capital of South Ossetia on Saturday as part of an operation to force Georgia to accept peace in its breakaway region.

"Tactical groups have fully liberated Tskhinvali from the Georgian military and have started pushing Georgian units beyond the zone of peacekeepers responsibility," Tass quoted Ground Forces commander Vladimir Boldyrev as saying.

Most people including Georgians living in South Ossetia do feel liberated by Russia.

Oh please. At least try to stay credible.

Read up on ou basic history - a little knowledge could eliminate most of the idiotic russophobic posts on this thread.

South Ossetia’s connection to Georgia is through its once favorite son: Stalin.

Most South Ossetians hold Russian passports...got it ?

A shield is Defensive. - It has no offensive capability.
your post likening the shield to a machine gun is ridiculous. ==

Any defense capability helps offense capability and vise versa. Just follow the example from our with Silverback duspute.

If you and me has shorguns then you buy the bulletprove vest saying it is for defense what I should do? I must go buy long burrel rifle since who knows what you really think so I need the means to put a hole into your new vest just in case of worst scenario.

At night between 7 to 8 of August 2008 Geirgian forces started artillary abarage on town Tskhinval were civilians with russian citizenship and russian peacekeepers. Then they attacked the town with tanks. During this night attack many civilians were killed together with about 10+ peacekeepers.

The Georgians believe they were shelling their own town, their own soil.

The Russians were already inside Georgia to protect ethnic Russians - from what? The breakaway region of South Ossetia is not a recognized government. The Georgians see this as an affront to their sovereignty from the Russians being inside their nation and used force to expel them.

Georgians still have vivid memories and remember when the Soviet Union forcibly annexed Georgia.

idiotic russophobic posts

Which post do you feel to be russophobic? Can't we just once have a debate without crying "racism" every time?

South Ossetia’s connection to Georgia is through its once favorite son: Stalin.

Stalin the traitor who helped kill the Georgian Democratic Republic in 1921 to expand Soviet Russia. Stalin is immensely popular in Russia to this day. The attempt to pin Stalin on Georgia while whitewashing Russia is disingenuous at best.

Why that would be like pinning Hitler on Austria and whitewashing Germany.

This is not correct. Ossetians are an Iranian people ethnically and linguistically. Their link to Russia is merely the fact that most Ossetians are living on Russian territory.

The reason is that the our increasingly powerful masters the Saudis do not want it that way.

The Saudis— you know the guys we send billions to and in return open terror centers aka mosques and buy up our financial institutions...

Russia says Ukraine helping Georgia

Reuters | Aug 9, 2008

MOSCOW, Aug 9 (Reuters) - Russia accused Ukraine on Saturday of encouraging Georgia to carry out "ethnic cleansing" in the separatist region of South Ossetia by providing arms, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

"The Ukrainian government, which has been enthusiastically arming Georgian troops from top to bottom, was in fact encouraging Georgia to attack and carry out ethnic cleansing in South Ossetia," the ministry said in a statement on its website www.mid.ru.

Sure, and when my neighbor the State Trooper puts on his bulletproof vest, that means he’s threatening me.==

“If you both has long barrel rifles then you both in balance. But when one of you guys buy new bullet prove vest means you are unbalanced now. Other side needs to balance it back again. So may be other side should buy the new rifle with special bullets to punch holes in bullet prove?”

Seems like you’re not having a hard time picking sides. The Cold War was just started again. You pick Russia-Iran-China. Fine now we know where you stand.

Are foreign passport holders in any country... let's say Mexicans in the USA now entitled to secede Texas or California from the USA with Mexican army help?

If they hold Russian passports, let them move to their N-Ossetian brothers in Russia. They can leave Georgia any time, just like the Mexican passport holders can leave the US. Goodbye.

Now you will certainly point out that the Ossetians are not "immigrants", but actually lived there for many centuries... well guess what, Texas, New Mexico and California were once part of Mexico and inhabited by Hispanics. It doesn't give them any right to secede from the US. It's America now. And S-Ossetia is Georgia. Period.

Facts not insults will help you...but facts is what you do not have.

Who did I insult? YOU are calling us racist. A case of projection I guess.

BTW you evaded answering the many question I asked you on the Georgia-Russia threads. Stand up and answer my questions if you are so well equipped with knowledge!

1,500 Civilians Reported Killed in Georgia Battle

Russian Troops: Billboard Shows a South Ossetian Child

1,500 Civilians Reported Killed in Georgia Battle

Russian troops are slaughtering civilians. Read the report -- Russia lost less than 20 troops in the battle. 'Mad Vlad' Putin is showing his true colors. Russia is engaged in 'ethnic cleansing' of people they ruled just a few years ago. Simply disgusting. Putin is a pure, stone killer. Just like Stalin and Hitler.

You are rewriting history. The Georgian Democratic Republic of 1918 was violently conquered in 1921 by the Bolsheviks. Like in all the other countries annexed by the Bolsheviks 1918-1989 there were communist traitors also in Georgia.

One-third of South Ossetia people are ethnic Georgians. Generally speaking, these people don't want to be taken over by Russia. Of course the number was much higher before ethnic Georgians were cleansed from South Ossetia in the early nineties. Do you want to bet the remaining ones will be ethnically cleansed with Russia taking over. It's a real "happy" time for So. Ossetians, right? Russia should stay the hell out of Georgia's So. Ossetia.

Those are not the facts. As much as you wish they were they are not. Most people including Georgians living in South Ossetia do feel liberated by Russia.

Ethnic Georgians which make up one-third of present-day So. Ossetia do not "feel liberated by Russia". That is an absurd statement. Russian supported rebels expelled ethnic Georgians from Tskhinvali back in the nineties.

So. Ossetia is part of sovereign Georgia. The Russians should STAY OUT.
