Can’t fall for this trap pissant. They are playing chess now but the Russian leadership are no Kasparov’s. The brighest minds in Russia stay far clear from Russian politics. That makes this an especially dangerous situation for the West. Implications and strategy must be deeply considered. There are more then one way to skin a cat.
However, that said I would love nothing more then to see 30 MOABS dropped on that column of tanks simealtanously while our Predators also engage the tanks and the Russian aircraft kept busy chasing the drones.
That’s because they know that Obama will go over and meet with the Russians and change there 1,000 year old culture just by stepping foot on there soil.
OIR should have been over 30 July and the U.S. Marines are out of there.

MOABs would be cool but one dropped on the entrance or exit of the tunnel leading into Georgia would put the russian ground troops in a world of hurt.

I’ll offer up mine Jeff. NO. Retrofitted Pershing missles work fine as a counter for Europe. So does energy creation en masse here before we ratchet it up a notch. My two cents worth.
Actually we have been training the Georgians and helping them with equipment. When I was in Tbilisi in 2005 I was hard pressed to not run into our servicemen, everywhere. Airforce, army, etc.

South Ossetia is part of Georgia only because the Georgian communist Stalin said it was. There is no shared language or culture. IN the past Ossetian Christians have always looked to Russia for protection from muslim hordes.
North Ossetia is a part of Russia.
Muslims living in South Ossetia want to stay with georgia...for the time being but are keeping quiet for the time being.
This information should be enough to keep you thinking for a while.
BUT, I think there are a lot of Georgian villages on the border.
Think there is a little bit of a difference of Russians offloading dozens of short range missles 90 miles off our coast vs them acting as typical tyrants 7,000 miles away? I think there is a big difference and how you respond to each. Poor comparison. We won’t fall for the bait and nor should we.
Thank you for bringing some sanity into this discussion. To me, sinking global monetary issues since 1908 have epic implications in military misadventure. German economic malfeasance spawned two world wars at the same time corrupt US politicians and bankers destroyed our Real Estate market and economy. It resembles 1930 but Russia instead of Germany. The USA is unlikely able to stop WWIII some years from now but we can sure be a bit more prepared for it.
They are a friend. They give us support in Iraq and we operate from there. I am sure you know this. But, many do not.
We sold a hefty portion of our mortgage market out to the Russians and Chinese. Have you considered they may have a bit of leverage here? When American leadership favors the Mexicans and Chinese to American citizens you FIX THAT FIRST. When your economic leadership in Congress sells out for themselves you FIX THAT FIRST. We are in no position right now to really help the way we all want to and that is to grind that invasion into dust.
