Actually the term “bastard” has been used in health department records and social science reasearch. That was a while back and changes might have been made.
Edwards is one of the most blatant hypocrites to ever fall under the political radar in this country.

She could be trying to provoke a situation in which he HAS to publicly acknowledge the child. If so, then she’s a real b*tch, because she could have waited for Elizabeth to die, and not humiliate her in this way.
The term bastard has fallen out of common usage. While that’s the dictionary definition, it’s uncommon to hear it nowadays.
I agree with others, the child is innocent; the parents are the ones who did things they shouldn’t have done.
With Edwards, in this case, he was so supportive of his wife as she faced cancer, and apparently he was doing things he shouldn’t have been doing behind her back.
Words have MEANINGS. The factual and literal meaning of the word “bastard” is “child of unmarried parents.” If this child is indeed John Edwards’, she is in fact a bastard.

I went to the link and looked at the photos. It looks like he’s squeezing the poor little baby’s chest.
If that’s how he treats an infant, maybe it’s best he doesn’t see her again and the baby is raised without his involvement.
P.S. What’s with the extreme sweating he’s doing in the photos? Nervous?

The reason “bastard” became a derogatory term, rather than merely a descriptive one, is that the parents were too immoral/undisciplined to marry before reproducing, therefore were assumed (generally correctly) to have been unable/unwilling to teach morality/discipline to their child.

I have no doubt the Enquirer was put on this story last fall, by one of her hired thugs. For years the POS have hired detectives to intimidate and investigate anyone who they see as a threat to their sick ambitions. They know Edwards is as arrogant and full of himself as they are. They knew he would be always in the picture. So they sent out their thugs, they did some digging and found the girlfriend. Someone tips off the NE and the Clinton's sick back and laugh their asses off...
Edwards will probably never know, they are behind it all, Bubba spends decades assaulting women, screwing whoever he wants and he skates. Edwards dips into this blonde a few times and they crucify him...
Soon it will be in the MSM and Edwards will be done. Good riddance, he's such a disgusting POS !!!

“Bastard” is the correct term for a child born out of wedlock. Also “illegitimate” would work.
(One reason I never got pregnant before I got married ... I didn’t want my child to be stigmatized for my bad behavior. No responsible parent would, IMHO.)
