“bastard” has a bad common language connotation.....I know what it means, but I hate seeing a child referred as one.....JMHO....
I was a bartender for 20 yrs and saw many examples of ‘cheating’. Believe me, it is rare that the wife doesn’t know, and most of the time they have a pretty good idea of with whom the cheating is occurring.

No, the reason the term became derogatory is because people search for the most disrespectful term they can use to throw out at people. They insult their mothers, their status without regard to the power of words in an effort to hurt.
They never stop to think that a baby is absolutely innocent with no control whatsoever of the events surrounding its birth.
It would be better to insult the parents and leave the result of the actions of guilty parents free to live a life with honor or dishonor cast on the child based on the child’s actions.
But - again - the only reason for the word is to hurt and who is to expect they should want to be fair in their quest to hurt?
I agree, but whatever anyone calls the child, she's now a rich one, being a defacto Edward's heir. Which I'm sure DNA will prove should he take the cowards way out.
John Edwards’ parents, by all accounts, were married when he was born, so calling him a bastard on illegitimacy grounds would be incorrect. That’s why I prefer the term “metrosexual asshat.”
Okay, I see the problem. Edwards is not sweating at all in the photo with the baby. That’s just the shadow of his noggin.
The sweating photo was taken at a gym and is unrelated to the baby photo.
We need to be careful with these photos.

Interesting that you’re the one who uses “bastard” as a derogatory word - what does it mean to “act as bastards?” The rest of us are pointing out that it is an accurate DESCRIPTION. That doesn’t mean we plan to hunt the poor child down and throw it in her face.

Shouldn't some state or federal law enforcement agency be sweeping down on his compound in North Carolina and taking Edward's first wife Elisabeth and kids into protective custody? Surely she is so emotionally traumatized that she's incapable of properly understanding what a humiliating and degrading state Edwards has put her into. Shouldn't Elisabeth and the kids be deprogrammed by a court appointed psychiatrist?
