Mayor Daley on Friday cracked the door open to abandoning the costly fight to uphold Chicago's 1982 handgun freeze -- if he can fashion a replacement ordinance that protects the safety of first-responders.

I knew it! The Second Amendment was always to be subject to protecting police.

Do I need a sarcasm tag?

Simple... allow the first-responders to arm themselves.

See? Took me all of two seconds to come up with that solution. Next?

Chicagoans with guns in their homes might be required to have insurance to protect taxpayers from frivolous lawsuits, he said.

Look up the word INFRINGED, you worthless tub of puss!

If the RAT idiots would make it legal for law-abiding American citizens to defend themselves, the crime rate would drop like a rock. And as far as these gang punks killing each other, that’s fine with me. Apparently the Chicago cops are too busy beating up female bartenders to do anything about the gangs.

Yes. When will we end this epidemic of senseless shootings of first responders by armed homeowner lunatics? What? There have been only two in the last 30 years? Then, when will we end this epidemic of senseless shootings of homeowners by first responders?

Looks like Hiz Honor’s moneymen have told him that it looks pretty damn likely that the City will lose - and that the gun banners will find the 2nd Amendment incorporated. It’s unlikely that they would lose on trial or appeal, but the Supes have dropped some HUGE hints in Heller. Now, if he works out another law, then the incorporation issue goes away until Obama can pack the court, then the gun-banners get another bite at the apple. You can read the filings for McDonald vs. City of Chicago here...

Your have to read carefully,

essentially he is saying he will pass a new law which DOES THE SAME THING.

Unfortunatly for Daley the standard is now STRICT SCRUTINY officially and ANY ordinance will have to pass the strict scrutiny test in order to survive.

Of course Daley is just going to pass ANYTHING and say it is different even if it is identical.

He might give up the fight if it was HIS money being spent on legal fees.

Guess the lawyers told him that inspite of him thinking he is King of Chicago that in reality the Supreme Court of the USA has more say in this then he does. :)

Daley is so used to being able to pick and choose which laws to obey, which to ignore, that even a pronouncement from the Supremes is of no importance to him. It’s good to be God. But now the NRA has shoved his halo up his ...and some city attorneys have told him to get over the discomfort! Arrogance like his will demand he try to weasel around it, but I don’t think the NRA, etc, will forget Chicago anytime soon.

Under further questioning, the mayor said city attorneys would simultaneously contest the law and work on a possible replacement.

I suspect one of his hired chaindog lawyers told him it was unwinnable, and warned him about incorporation.

Sounds to me like he’s going to watch the DC council regulate *around* the SCOTUS Heller ruling and follow suit.

All these city officials have to do is enact regulations that de facto ban guns until they’re challenged in court, then enact new regs which restrict the same thing.

Sheesh. Tree of Liberty getting watered, and all that....

Kit.

“Chicago continues to enforce gun ban

On June 26, the Supreme Court overturned a Washington, D.C., handgun ban on grounds that the Second Amendment guarantees the right to possess a handgun in your home for self-defense.”
None of this means anything to the rat. The rat always thinks he is above the law until he gets caught stealing or stookin’ then he’s very sorry and needs to stop answering question so he can “be with his family.”

You have to wonder if he’s got something up his sleeve...

A politician who doesn’t trust me with my guns, is someone I do not trust my vote for...

Wouldn’t get it anyway...

I’m not that interested in Chicago and what they do but I can’t wait to see the lawsuit against Oak Park. I used to live there and was a member of the Oak Park Freedom Committee which was organized to fight ban.

It was pretty bad. We had opposition members attending out meetings. We had our car license plates written down. We were harassed.

We failed to screen some of our members and one of our top people gave an embarrassing speech as to how he should be elected to the Illinois legislation.

I put the house up for sale and couldn’t sell it after dropping the price by a third.

I had a town housing inspector on the roof of my house who wrote me a ticket for having dirty gutters. He used the ladder I had against the house because the next day, I was going to clean the gutters.

My brother in law was locked up for having a gun in his sock drawer. He was eventually charged with not having the Illinois gun owners card.
