Right now in Congress, Republicans are holding a revolt against the Democrat Majority for taking a month-long vacation without holding a vote to drill for more American oil.

As you may be aware, last Friday Speaker Pelosi gaveled the House to adjournment for a month-long vacation WITHOUT voting on key energy legislation that could give Americans relief from the high cost of fuel.

Republicans announced we were prepared to stay and debate the energy bill to increase the supply of American oil and reduce our dependence on oil from unstable regimes in the Middle East.

So what did Speaker Pelosi do to show leadership? She turned out the lights, shut off the microphones and tried to shut out reporters from covering the GOP debate. But that didn’t stop us. The House GOP took control of the floor and held a revolt to demand that Democrats return to their job and vote on drilling.

This morning, my colleagues and I returned to Washington to continue our efforts to force the Democrats to return to work and get the job done for the American people. We’ve been on the House Floor this morning and will continue throughout this week to keep pressure on the Democrats to hold votes on energy bills.

While the Democrats have put priority on their 5-week long vacation, we are putting priority on working for energy solutions by calling for votes on drilling for more American oil.

If you are as outraged as we are, speak out now by posting your comments on our blog. Encourage Republicans to keep up the pressure. Tell Democrats to do the work of the American people. You can post comments to our blog at http://blog.nrcc.org/

And, check back tomorrow for more updates. Americans can’t afford the Democrat agenda of no energy, no drilling, no solutions.
