I got a cool e-mail from my Congressman Howard (Buck) McKeon today with a animated and clever cartoon on why we must "DRILL, DRILL DRILL".

Don't know if it was sent by other Congressmen or not.

I also, just signed Cantor's petition, seems to me it had 3400+ signatures so far.

I called my LOCAL tv station to ask them to cover the Republicans fighting for drilling, and yeah, they mentioned it today, but started out with EVEN THOUGH OIL HAS GONE DOWN, the Republicans are protesting, etc..

It seems that they were trying to put a negative slant on what the Republicans were doing because, after all, oil has gone down. Duh

The “Telephone Town Hall Meeting” with Congressman Lynn Westmoreland has ended and, unfortunately, I didn’t get a chance to ask my question. So I’m sorry I don’t have anything to report in that regard, but they did ask that I leave a message and the congressman will get back to me.

Aside from my obvious disappointment, he did a terrific job at answering the questions put to him and I’ll post what I was able to jot down.

Regarding the “Republican Revolt” — someone did thank him for his stance after the lights were so rudely turned off. He went into some detail about what they were trying to accomplish. He did say he won’t let down, so Anti-Hillary, he knows what we’re saying out here and agrees and intends to keep up the fight. Said to go sign petition at - GOP.gov/GOPleader.gov. Not sure if I heard/wrote that right, but I’ll try and find out.

He also mentioned we’re sending $170 billion to Chavez every day, and that’s money we should and could keep in this country, creating jobs, etc.

He slapped down dems and Pelosi (in the nicest way, of course) for wanting to take oil out of the reserves - said it would only last about 30 days or so - and we should build up the reserves, not drain it.

Oh, and he said dems in congress have two speeds —

We’ve all witnessed that and it is the truth!!! :)

Answered other questions regarding:
*Social Security (reminded us that Pres. Bush had a plan and dems and AARP fought against it). Said SS is a failure of govt and consists of them “borrowing” from it to the point it consists of IOU’s. People should be allowed to up amount put into IRA’s, have private accounts, etc.
*Fair Tax/Flat Tax - he’s for reform of some sort. Said if Nancy Pelosi understood the kind of money that would come into govt coffers, she would go for it. In that regard, he fears dems would spend it and expand govt even more.
*Nuclear power - part of the Republican’s energy plan and called nuclear energy expensive to build but inexpensive to use.

In his closing statement he thanked all of us for taking part in the conference call, that it helps him to hear from his constituents so he’ll know how to work for us in DC. He said thanks for the privilege of serving us and that he takes his position as a US Congressman very seriously.

but Nancy Pelosi and her husband are extremely
wealthy. They own a few Napa vineyards and
they own some hotels in Napa as well.
