Tony Snow: 1955-2008 In his father’s words
‘He couldn’t fight anymore. ... ‘

Former White House press secretary Tony Snow died Saturday after a long battle with colon cancer. He was 53. His father, Jim Snow, 76, who lives in The Villages in Lake County, talked about his son with Sentinel reporter Gabrielle Finley.
“I saw him in the hospital, spent four or five days with him. I think the hardest thing is he looked like he was making a recovery on Thursday.
“His sister called me Thursday and said he had been able to sit up for about 15 minutes and they had reduced the amount of oxygen he had been on. Things were kind of looking up.
“His brother called and said there was hope. His doctors thought so, too; they were pleased.
“The prognosis was never great, but he was such a fighter. Friday, he just went downhill. He was so weak. He couldn’t fight anymore. . . .
“He was on the speaker’s circuit, and he loved to be with people; he loved to speak. He was always well-liked, but he liked his family the most, though. He loved and respected the president. But he was devoted to his family, and he wanted to make money to take care of his family. . . .
“He was big into music. He had a rock band — Beats Workin’ — they played all over the D.C. area.
“They had a lot of fun. He played the flute and the saxophone.”
I said the same thing above - that has to be Ann Compton.
I’m sure Tony’s family will be quite well off. His income over the years, investments, etc. made him a very wealthy man. His health insurance, whether it was private or came from AFTRA, covered most of his illness. That being said, I’ll give money the minute a fund is announced if that’s what is decided.
Yes, I take great comfort in that as well. God bless you and comfort you in your grief as well.
Heaven is going to be one AMAZING reuinion!
This was a good man who died way too young. Like Tim Russert on the other side of the fence, disagree as the day is long but he’s someone both sides could like and respect.
Thank you.
She apparently had no pain, and in her last days, for a few hours, she thought she a “pink fairy”. I think every girl should get to be a pink fairy at least once in her lifetime. ;^)
I’d be more than happy to make a donation.

This is a noble undertaking. I hope you get the help you
get. I know nothing of this sort of thing, but will be
ready to help out with a donation.
Please do be careful. There are many hateful people out there!
I am pretty sure, also, that Tony, as a loving husband and
father, provided well for his dear family. I am certain that
they would give all that up to just have him back. :(
Thanks, Doc.
Thank you Dr. I will be sending a Mass card.
Thank you...it was beautiful and very needed at this sad time.
Someone needs to contact family’s lawyer.
A great family man and patriot. A true child of God. Rest in Peace friend.
Thanks for posting that from SurferBoy.
I have not been able to catch any of the tributes on TV today, but reading here is its own really special tribute. He would be so touched.
Oooh, I just saw an ad for tomorrow night on FOX; it’s going to be 3 hours of remembering Tony.
See post #1995...I am not sure I had your name for the
ping list...it’s kind of an old one.
It’s his radio show that I saved...it could be his last
one...I didn’t listen to the whole thing right now to verify
that.
I hope I get a chance to watch that. I haven’t had the
courage to watch anything for the past 2 days....I was
afraid I would break down.
“Another thing, saveliberty. I would bet cash money that Cheney and Bush have put some money in a fund for those kids.”
I thought the exact same thing!
I was thinking that perhaps there will be some mention of a fund in the funeral notice, perhaps “rather than flowers...” Who knows what medical expenses may remain unpaid.
If a fund is set up I am certain the response would be astronomical, probably from $1 on up!
Thanks for posting the show link....add me to the list if you have any more. I have the 10-21-07 show with Ted Nugent.
I found this one to share with this thread...
