Hillary Clinton in negotiations for Barack Obama to help pay off her debts
Posted by Toby Harnden on 02 Jun 2008 at 22:28
Negotiations are understood to be taking place between the Obama and Clinton campaigns about the Illinois senator helping to repay some of the massive debt incurred by his rival. One of Hillary Clintons donors said that the former First Ladys campaign was as much as $40 million in the red.
In a conference call with major donors this afternoon, contributors were told by Harold Ickes, a senior Clinton adviser, that she was unlikely to pull out of the race until the issue of her massive debts was resolved. The New York senator has lent her own campaign at least $11.5 million.
One source close to a major donor said: Its not about the vice-presidency or any other position she might get. Its about the money in particular the Clinton family money. The Obama campaign might have to reach deeply into its well-stocked coffers in order to secure the full support of Mrs Clinton and her husband Bill in the November general election.
But in a sign that Mr Obama believes a deal can be struck, he said at an event in Troy, Michigan: Mrs Clinton has run an outstanding campaign and she is an outstanding public servant. And she and I will be working together in November.
I don’t believe this for a New York minute. She is not capitulating and she will fight to the very end, and she will do anything and everything in her power to get what she wants even if it means the destruction of her ‘party’ - as long as she gets what she feels she’s entitled to. Those of you out there that think differently, see me when the Democratic Convention is over.
tag....succint and correct...
Reread. The “loan” is from Hillary to the Hillary campaign. Under current law she can not do more fundraising to pay herself back once the campaign is over. So either she has to raise the $11 million from individuals who feel sorry for her (meeting all campaign finance rules, which mean no donations over $2100 per person, etc.) OR Obama can pay it for her. The former is realistically impossible. OR she can stay in, win the nomination in which case she has more time (and fundraising ability) to pay herself back from the Hillary for Presidents accounts.

You betcha!
not sure why every post is doubling up, but the are. weird.
Hillary is the definition of domestic enemy.
Heck, all the Clintons have to do is call up Marc Rich. He’ll wire ‘em the money. Why bother Mr. Obama?

A strong woman would have divorced Bill a long time ago. She is weird, grinning and cackling. If Obama pays off her debts, it might leave the impression, right or wrong, she has something on him.
You be the judge...the Clintons know exactly what they're doing....
Is anyone watching Bill O. hammer Scott McClellan???
Of course, Hillary can take money from Obama while promising him anything and everything. Women have played that gambit for centuries.
There really is two different types of blacks running for the democrat nomination. One is a black male and the other is a blackmailer.
She started with 100 million, mostly raised by Bill. She goes 40 million in the red in her own campaign, but she can handle the US budget just fine, of course.
Obama is a fool to trust a Clinton, but he will do it in order to show that he's a nice guy.
Hillary will blindside him and take the nomination right out of his hands, along with the $40 million.
It ain't over, Barack. Don't give her an inch, or a penny.
