The Office of President Bill Clinton responded with fury Sunday to a Vanity Fair article that attacks the former president and suggests he is out of control personally and consumed by cavernous narcissism.
The article, which hits newsstands next week, was distributed to the media and online in advance of its publication. The author, Todd Purdum, has covered Clinton for 16 years. He is married to former Clinton Press Secretary Dee Dee Myers. A tawdry, anonymous quote-filled attack piece, published in this months Vanity Fair magazine regarding former President Bill Clinton repeats many past attacks on him, ignores much prior positive coverage, includes numerous errors, and ultimately breaks no new ground. It is, in short, journalism of personal destruction at its worst, reads a statement from the office of the president.
Though (Purdum) researched the piece for several months, his first contact with President Clintons office was several weeks before he closed the story. Most revealing is one simple fact: President Clinton has helped save the lives of 1,300,000 people in his post-presidency, and Vanity Fair couldnt find time to talk to even one of them for comment, the statement continues, along with several pages of argument refuting the articles main points.
Purdum suggests that in the years since Clinton left the White House $12 million in debt, he has been caught up in a world of rich friends, adoring fans and borrowed jets. The article quotes one former aide calling Clintons current associates like billionaire Ron Burkle and movie producer Stephen Bing radioactive.
The aide says Clintons associates are compounding worries that the 61-year-old former president is running with a fast crowd

Wow, Ronald Reagan helped liberate 50 million people from the iron grip of communism in his post-presidency
When that lying, perjuring, whore mongering grifter Bubba gets to 25 million I'd consider caring
Kudos to the long-forgotten "talking head" who once described Bill Clinton as "a personality disorder with a disco haircut." I have yet to hear a better description of this sh!tty, dysfunctional loser.
It turns out that Bill Clinton was just a pile of dog crap between the Bushes after all.
So it just shows the left is a minimum 10 years behind the right on the learning curve....
Very educational article. Not about Clinton, since we’re all too familiar with him. But the article illustrates just how biased and arrogant the mainstream press really is. Clinton and Purdum (or should I say “Mr. Myers”?) would deserve each other.... in a different country from mine.
...just like the a-hole who wrote it.
(You were right all along about Clinton)... BUT GEORGE W. BUSH IS THE MOST CORRUPT, INCOMPETENT, AND EVIL PRESIDENT IN MODERN HISTORY!!! and blah blah blah...
I swear to God, I kid you not, I've seen bumper stickers that say, "I miss Bill" surrounded by a wistful circle of stars.
I think, in a manner of speaking, Hillary is in her Judy Garland days, Bill, his Fat Elvis days.
They may have a point.
If you consider that Hillary has kept Billy on a short leash, thereby limiting his access to bimbos, then extrapolate that number of other people those bimbos would have infected with Billy's diseases....
His forced celibacy may well have saved 1,300,000 people!!!
me too - saving it to give to some Hillary supporters I know...excellent work actually.
NO - the left will not admit the VRWC was and is RIGHT about Bubba....because to do so will mean they admit Billary is a rapist who assaults women regularly...
A serial rapist at that....
It will mean they also agree that Bill Clinton is a psychotic evil man with a perverse sexual appetite that evidently (from this article) enjoys the presence and company of even younger females than Monica was in that term.....
But at least, at least, this writer comes close with some revelations about Bubba’s continuing ANGER.....
(and the lefties talk about McCain’s temper??? HA = compared to Billary - McCain is a mouse....anger wise)
Is that the Vanity Fair issue, with Angelina Jolie on the cover?/Just Asking - seoul62.......
I just can’t read 8 pages about Bill Clinton, even if it’s negative.
I did notice the gratuitous slam against George Bush by the author, though. That didn’t add to my appreciation of the article.
Clinton is a rock star as was JFK and that means having everything you want. So fill in the blanks.
There may be "several pages of argument" disputing "the article's main points"; but to say that they are effectively "refuting" those points is to say that the Clintonistas have proven them wrong. And that is surely not the case.
“The presidential candidate is near!”
Your tagline is spot on. That’s what it’s coming down to: who will be willing to take the fight right to the enemy?
Without fear. Without hesitation. Without remorse.
I used to have the article! I can’t find it, and I SO regret that. I recall that the cover was of Demi Moore painted with sort of a Betsy Ross outfit. The “clothes” were really a mixture of cloth and red/white/blue paint.
I’ll keep looking for it...I SO regret the loss!!!
thanks bannie, I’ll look too. freep mail me if you find it first.
