31,000 scientists publicly reject man-mad global warming, and still no coverage of the announcement?

Posted on 05/20/2008 5:57:44 AM PDT by Maceman

According to Dr. Robinson of the Oregon Institute of Science & Medicine, the scheduled announcement of the Global Warming Petition Project took place as scheduled at 10am EDT this morning at the National Press Club (10am).

The Petition states:

We urge the United States government to reject the global warming agreement that was written in Kyoto, Japan in December, 1997, and any other similar proposals. The proposed limits on greenhouse gases would harm the environment, hinder the advance of science and technology, and damage the health and welfare of mankind.

There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gasses is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate. Moreover, there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environments of the Earth.

One would think that the public announcement of this petition, signed by 31,072 scientists (including over 9,000 Ph.Ds), and announced at the National Press Club itself, would garner quite a lot of publicity.

Then again, maybe not. (What was I thinking?)

If there has been a single news article about it anywhere, I have yet to find it.

Looks like the Global Warming Debate Deniers strike again.

Hubby told me this morning that HE'D received a letter a few weeks ago, asking him to sign the statement. He has a PhD in Statistics, and reckons that the folks doing this sent letters to thousands of PhDs in the country.

That's OK, the more folks who have the scales dropped from their eyes about AGW, the better!

Al Gore won the Nobel Peace prize over a woman who saved over 2,500 Jews during WWII.

That is disgusting! That woman died just a month or two ago. How wonderful it would have been had she won the Nobel Prize. It just serves to solidify my contention that the Nobel Prize has become worthless in the last few years. The only person deserving of it, in my recent memory, was Mother Theresa, and I think she received it over a decade ago.

See http://www.petitionproject.org/

It was announced at Nat'l Press Club. Here is one of the many articles about the announcement. [NOTE: These are articles reporting that the petition WOULD be announced, which it was. Unfortunately, there was virtually no press coverage of the actual announcement in the days following.]
