According to Dr. Robinson of the Oregon Institute of Science & Medicine, the scheduled announcement of the Global Warming Petition Project took place as scheduled at 10am EDT this morning at the National Press Club (10am).
The Petition states:
We urge the United States government to reject the global warming agreement that was written in Kyoto, Japan in December, 1997, and any other similar proposals. The proposed limits on greenhouse gases would harm the environment, hinder the advance of science and technology, and damage the health and welfare of mankind.
There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gasses is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate. Moreover, there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environments of the Earth.
One would think that the public announcement of this petition, signed by 31,072 scientists (including over 9,000 Ph.Ds), and announced at the National Press Club itself, would garner quite a lot of publicity.
Then again, maybe not. (What was I thinking?)
If there has been a single news article about it anywhere, I have yet to find it.
Looks like the Global Warming Debate Deniers strike again.
What about the millions of swamprats Al Gore is saving , don’t they count ? Where will the rats go when the seas rise and and the marsh lands disappear ?

Unfortunately, I can’t find ONE LINK that gives me a sample of some of the names. Can you?
Yes, the announcement should have been made that "a comprehensive statement on GW from 31,000 scientists will be delivered on"...; they would have flocked in, with plenty of pre-articles to lock them into their preconceived notions. The release would have been much more widely covered that way.

WCCO meteorologist: Global warming ‘extremism’ uses ‘squishy science’
Longtime WCCO-TV meteorologist Mike Fairbourne says that the environmental movement is practicing “squishy science” when it ties human activity to global warming.
Fairbourne’s assessment Monday came on the same day that the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine appeared before the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., and announced that it has the signatures of more than 31,000 scientists — including Fairbourne’s — who agree that the human impact on global warming is overblown.
Fairbourne, who jointed WCCO in 1977 and has been a meteorologist for 40 years, said that while there is no doubt that “there has been some warming” of global temperatures in recent years ... there is still a pretty big question mark” about how much of that warming is from human activity.
“Do we need to be wise stewards [of the Earth]? Absolutely,” Fairbourne said. “Do we have to pin everything that happens on global warming? No, we need to have cooler heads.”
Fairbourne said he signed the institute’s petition about five years ago. The group said that hundreds of meteorologists are among the signees...............
SNIP.
No, Juan McNuts is a True Believer, and you are evil to question his righteous indignation!
While I don’t buy into global warming for a second, I have ben thinking about this story. We might think 31k is significant, but how does 31k compare to the hundreds of thusands (if not millions) of scientists who support man-made gloabal warming lockstep? This is a drop in the pan, realistically. I’m surprised it’s even been covered by newsmax.
Scientists? Pffft.
We’ve got a bloated politician and high-school drop-out entertainers who have researched and studied the climate. I’m sure they know what they’re talking about.
The whole global-warming environmentalist thing is a religion, and we’re not allowed to honestly, intellectually discuss a religion.
Proof that the media are completely and totally biased and irresponsible.
Any link to the complete list?
See reply #30, above.
Looks like it’s up to the pajama mudeen (sic) to circulate this story and stress that the msm did NOT do it.
Link in #30 gives details about the signers.
We need to send a pithy paragraph of explanation plus link in #30 to our email addresses, because it’s not going to be known otherwise.
The news conference - as someone has already noted was held on May 19, not 20th. Be careful with that kind of detail because the attack against the petition will be “well, if they can’t even get the date right, what else did they get wrong.”
How do you know this? From a poll? Or are you just speculating based on what you feel to be true? The point of the anti gw petition is to show that the debate is FAR from over and there is absolutely NO consensus. It succeeded in doing that many times over.
Nothing in the Google News search.
I was the original poster, and also the one who corrected the date.
I'm going to look up some of the 9,000 PHD’s and see if they would qualify in Owl Bore’s eyes.
Show me a SINGLE source to justify your claim of “hundreds of thousands, if not millions” of scientists who support global warming.
