So far, it is far easier to blame Big Oil and tax their profits. The public is ill-informed about the issue and the politicians and the MSM want to keep it that way. And any solution is still years away from putting more oil on the market or nuclear power. The environmental wackos have infiltrated our schools and the inmates are in charge of the asylum.
I went to a Sierra Club meeting in NoVA a few months ago to try to connect the dots between increased energy needs and population growth largely due to immigration. The meeting drew a huge number of tree huggers who were hell bent on trying to shut down a clean coal plant that was being built in southern VA. The electricity supplied by the plant was for NoVA, which is experiencing rapid growth. Each year the state adds 50,000 new customers, residential and commerical. These people could care less about why the additional energy was needed. They would rather listen to a teary-eyed woman who lived near the site describe how much damage was being done to the land complete with slides. Jim Moran, [D-VA] agreed that the plant should not be completed.
These people are insane. I might add that this is one of the wealthiest areas in the country.
Another story: I went to a meeting held by three of our state legislators, all Dems. The issue was transportation and how to fund the needs of NoVA. One legislator asked the assembled audience how many favored raising taxes to fund the various projects. About 3/4 raised their hands in the affirmative. The rest of the meeting was just discussing what taxes needed to be raised. One suggestion that received a lot of support was to raise the gasoline tax. One woman said that gasoline was too cheap compared to the prices that people pay in Europe. When I mentioned that such a tax was regressive and hurt those in the lower income brackets more, she said that they would find a way to pay recognizing that everyone benefits.
No mention is ever made about cutting spending or reducing benefits. The "Let them eat cake" mentality is prevalent inside the Beltway.
Just hold down the ctrl button and scroll the wheel the other way. When you release the button it will refresh and change the screen font size to whatever you want.
It's very easy to do and only takes seconds to change to what you like.
A short vingette about an incident in South FL. We were driving around following the McCain campaign in two white panel vans with large signs on the sides and back saying McCain=Amnesty. There were more than a few instances when Hispanics, presumably Cuban-Americans, approached our van giving us a thumbs up and asking if we had any bumper sticks or flyers saying the same thing. We explained that we were against McCain, much to their surprise. So in some places in FL, McCain=Amnesty is perceived as being a good thing. LOL.
No, darling, it wasn’t the font—it was the entire desktop. I was using the mouse pad and typing...I’m sure I hit Control during all that, but I have no idea how the entire screen blew up.
I'm afraid to leave the space blank for fear somebody will figure a way to fill in the blanks. Guess I'll have to do a write in unless McCain picks an extremely fine VP.
Sorry I am late to the thread. Responsibilities today kept me from participating.
As far as the elction, all I have to say is this:
Elections are not for us to choose the candidate who agrees with us, nor the perfect candidate. Elections are not for selecting a favorite, nor for choosing someone who agrees with us on our pet issue.
What we are asked to do is to pick from the field offered the candidate who will be the best for the nation.
In this case, the answer is McCain. Anyone who wants to know my thoughts on McCain can search my posts for the last 7 years. I am not a McCain lover, to say the least.
I am, however, a lover of this nation, and while McCain might not do a lot of stuff that I would like, the democrats will do NOTHING, and if Obama is elected, we will have a president who hangs out with Marxists, Black Nationalists, and terrorists.
Given that situation, my duty is to vote for McCain. I love my country and my family too much to do otherwise.
Yes, I saw futher on that it wasn’t your font size, after I posted.
Glad you got it fixed.
Thanks for your help. ;)
I haven't had a chance to see the shows yet today, but they're taped. I totally agree that Obama needs a script, teleprompter, and sympathetic moderators. There was a good reason he stopped "debating" the Botch and it will be good if he has to debate McCain and speak off the cuff.
Harry Reid says that dem registration in Kansas has gone up twenty five hundred percent.
Too good! Harry's not the sharpest knife in the crayon box. Also, however much it actually went up, I gotta wonder how much of that is Operation Chaos.
Given to understatement, aren't you, my friend :)
Look at the leadership of the democrat party. I could make you weep.
Sigh. Same here. During their reign I can't count how many times I figured THIS will finally expose them to the worshipping dolts, but it didn't. Maybe I'm the dolt for believing people will wake up, but I think they may be. The sniper story helped.
I'm hoping that after she comes up a loser (if she does), the fear factor recedes enough that everybody piles on with stories. I want to be sure she has NO path back.
Rush has commented often that recently people have turned on the Clintons and nothing has happened to them which makes the fear factor recede even more. He says to expect a rash of tell all books from former underlings who've been quiet as mice till now.
I hope so although I think Clinton fatigue is deep and pervasive so there may not be a big market IF WE FINALLY GET RID OF THEM. The only reason I used to read those books was because the Clintons were harming my country and I was looking for a way to stop them. If we're finally rid of them, I just want them GONE. Okay, I would like to see them go to jail... Still I remember thinking they were down for the count, and up they popped again. Arrrghhh.
I agree with you that Obama is a Manchurian Candidate. Unfortunately, I think the other two are as well.
LOL and weeping too.
Try living with Fat Ted for forty years. He’s killed people, ruined his family and singlehandedly destroyed The Immigration Policy of the US.
Just to name a few incidents.
Do the Dems keep voting for him...
Yes! They do!!
Are the Dems in MA suicidal?
Yes, they are!
Have they spread their liver disease to the rest of the Country?
Yes! They Have!
Will Ted’s voter’s smarten up?
No! They won’t!!
It’s all about brain washing and the teacher’s Union and the joke that is the Public School system.
Auggh!
Just shoot me now!!
Only kidding. Will not retire in what remains
as we currently know to be America.
Had to spend Mother’s Day with Massholes!
It’s late, I am tired and Cranky.
Gotta leave this place.. (American Woman)
Internet Explorer has a zoom feature. You push and hold the ctrl key, and then move the scroll wheel up or down to increase, or decrease the zoom. It will stay wherever it was when you turn the computer off, so once you zoom with this feature, you must zoom back to get back to normal.
Come to Oklahoma!
I know...this wasn’t a text zoom but an entire screen (including the desktop)...everything was blurry and very magnified. I adjusted the screen resolution to high and it went back to normal. I still have no idea how I did it. Thanks for your help. ;)
Your soooo welcome!
The only power the Rats care about is political power, nothing else. They are for centralized gummit and any way to aquire that including destroying the Country is acceptable.
If you like $4/gal thank Congress, if you want $8/gal vote Oblack.
Pray for W and Our Troops
Kennedy and Kerry both stopped Cape Wind. It would effect alot of folks on the Cape. From the Fisherman , Sailors, Environmentalist Whackos.
It’s a relatively ‘small’ Community, heavily Democratic,
I love these folks who support it. They are a minority, but they have worked darn hard.
This issue will not die til Kennedy croaks and Kerry gets voted out.
[Democrats cant even get their supporters to quit burning gasoline in record amounts, and now some new miracle untested technology is already thought to be better.]
The commie dems use up more oil/energy bitching about the use of oil than those of us that need to use oil.
Hateful SOB’s.
