Attn McCain Apologists: Talk all you want!

But he's still a constitution trampling RINO and unless he repeals McCain-Feingold, repudiates amnesty and global warming, drops all support for embryonic stem cell research and stops talking about partnering up with the Democrats and instead swears to fight the evil bastards he won't be getting my support.

You kicked the conservatives to the curb and nominated your RINO, now all you gotta do is get him elected.

However, that shouldn't be all that tough to do. Look what he'll be running against. A corrupt, power hungry Marxist radical feminist control freak or a corrupt, America-hating racist Marxist surrender monkey (oops, can I say "surrender monkey" in this context?). Can't see America going for either of those two useful idiots.

By the way, "change" is a Marxist codeword.

As they say, America deserves better.

Carry on.

P.S.

Or, you can select a kick butt pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-America, pro-gun, pro-drilling, pro-defense, pro-small government, fiscal conservative as your running mate and signal a return to traditional conservatism as the future of the GOP and of America and you will get all the support you need. If she's a moose hunting Alaskan army mom, all the better!

But boiled down, he is just a guy talking words.

Isn't that just what we freepers are too? The point is to use our words to inform and influence others. That's what Rush does and that's what I do in my own way. I use this forum to learn and to persuade others to my way of thinking. It's more than just talking words for me. Words mean things.

It’s not a black and white issue. There are degrees of pain that we’re going to have to incurr. McCain would probably be a little less painful.

Hey humblegunner, we've been talking about Rush. He is having the same internal problem with McCain that we all are. Check out this FreeRepublic post here.

Thank you for your gentlemanly response. It’s a welcome relief. And this approach is far more likely to gain friends for McCain than the troll taunts I have been getting.

>> Ahhh, but I think McCain might be to the right of Bush.<<

I don’t think he is on SCOTUS nominees. Other than trying to control spending (which W finally started doing), tell me how McCain is more conservative?

I mentioned that I don’t like McCain breaking his promise already. Every time I think of pulling the McCain lever, I remember the Bushbot taunts of “You voted for him so you should have known,” when Bush was pushing amnesty. I honestly feel guilty about giving my stamp of approval to a man who is obsessed with the same despicable goal (amnesty) as Ted Kennedy.

>> With regard to illegals the only option — and I mean ONLY option — is to hope McNut wins and brings in enough conservatives on his coattails to make whatever is cooked up halfway palatable.

And that means supporting McNut.<<

We have time to think it over before November. Let’s see what McCain does.

Why do you say he doesn’t care what we or anyone else thinks? I’m not arguing, just asking what made you come to this conclusion.

Also, I have the same question about his appearance. Are you saying the photographers are trying to make him look better?

I've been in McCain's presence twice. He does not care what the great unwashed think. As far as his appearance all I can say is that several photographers were cleaning up his face on their computers using software. They were sitting cross-legged in the media section fixing the guys face. why? I have not idea. I didn't ask cuz I was not supposed to be there with them.

>>And, as you note, “putting pressure” on McCain and getting him to promise us the Moon and the stars on border security, or whatever issue,<<

His promises mean very little to me by themselves. He is a US Senator and we can see if he is sincere. So far, looks like he isn’t.

>>is not going to matter, because he is going to do what he is going to do, anyway.<<

Political miracles have been known to happen (Truman 1948). McCain might think about making some adjustments If Bob Barr starts pulling away votes. Lots of surprises have already happened in 2008 (including McCain).

>>I was thinking along the same lines also - until someone here posted that McCain voted to affirm Ginsberg, Kennedy, and Souter. So much for thinking he’d be for a conservative judge.<<

I don’t like McCain, don’t trust him. I get flamed by McCain trolls all the time for criticizing McCain.

But bear in mind the Senate voted 96-3 FOR Ginsburg’s confirmation. I would have voted against her, but I think we have plenty of better arguments against McCain than the Ginsburg vote.

McCain was the least likely... Something had to happen behind the scenes because we are screwed. He's not beloved, knows nothing about the economy, shamnesty, bad bills with dems and so much more that he's NOT got going for him.

1. socialist 2. marxist 3. leninist running for POTUS.

The state Republican Party needs to do away with Independents and Dems being allowed to vote for Republicans.

This is why we got McCain.

The RNC wanted $75.00 on the phone yesterday. Ah, no, I NEED TO SAVE THAT FOR GAS MONEY. Remember McCain wouldn’t drill in ANWR.

Other than trying to control spending

That's pretty much about it (which is important). Don't forget Harriet Myers was Dubya's first choice for SCOTUS and he had to get his mind right -- of course when he did, wow. All expectations were surpassed.

And Dubya has hung tough on global warming whereas McCain has already caved so maybe it's a wash.

OK, Dubya has been pro ANWR drilling too but it's been eight years and we aren't going to drill.

The trick for me with McCain is not to put any emotional investment into him. I have no expectations. I am only supporting him because the alternative is so bad, and because he's said sorta right things about some issues I care about.

Fighting from within gives you zero leverage. Being an indy, they need to try to figure out how to get indys back. They can use you while you waste your life fighting from within. They are users. DNC and RNC. I’m with Lou Dobbs on being an indy.
