I am, in fact, entirely for a much, much, much smaller government, especially Federal.
“...Yet, even those principles change. It is the nature of politics.”
BEDROCK principles do NOT change over time. That’s why they’re called that. If they change, they are NOT core principles. I don’t have a clue as to WHAT they are. Just as the Bible, God’s Word, DOES NOT CHANGE. Too often people change its meaning to suit their current desires. That’s all. If you think it’s OK to change up over time and give up whatever “beliefs” you might hold for whatever is faddish at the moment, YOU ARE A LIVING DOCUMENT LIBERAL. You got a problem with that?
Great work! I can appreciate the time and effort you put into the post. Thanks!
Right. And I suppose all you McCain supporters are perfect ladies and gentlemen towards those of us who dissent. Except for telling us to shut our stinking traps. And except for calling us self-absorbed punks. And oh, that rage-oholic thing...and then there’s...well, you get the picture.
I don’t hate McCain, nor am I a McCain apologist. I am deeply disappointed that the GOP nomination process came to a point where the “best” the GOP could come up with was to choose between McCain, Romney, Huckabee, or Rudy. That said, while McCain is woefully inadequate to get this conservative enthused about the election, he is light years better than either hillary rodham or Barak Obama.
We must do whatever is necessary to prevent such an obamination to the country that either democrat candidate would bring, so I will hold my nose and vote for McCain on November 4.
Actually, you can say "SHUT Your Stinking TRAP!" legally already.
This has probably already been answered by now, but it comes from the Hebrew tradition of using only the consonants in the name of "Jehovah" (Jhwh, pronounced "Yah-wey") whenever writing God's name in the Scriptures. It signifies such a reverence for God's name that we are not even worthy to write the name out in full.
The number of hate posts from one side is nowhere near the other. It's not even a decent fraction. The small-tent conservatives are a league unto their own in that respect. It is shameful.
Of course Hillary and Obama are terrible, but McCain will be just a little slower in paving the highway to disaster. I believe that no matter who wins, the people and the Congress are going to have to rise up unlike anything we have seen before in order to stop the idiocy. Presidents are not gods and they can be dealt with in a political fashion. We the people can handle these clowns and begin the process of taking the country back.
I am not interested in watching as the United States sinks further into the abyss. I want my country, my freedom, my Constitution, and my government back. And I mean government 1791 style plus a few Amendments. In achieving what I want McCain is of no more value than Obama or the beast, so let them all rot.
Thank you Jay. I appreciate the note.
I should have written POWs and MIAs instead of just MIAs in my previous post.
Ross Perot did support bringing home the POWs in his platform when he ran. I honestly don’t remember if he specifically mentioned McCain.
Though that is the long-term goal all thinking conservatives have, if you think that there was anyone in the GOP field (or in the current third party fields) who would deliver that as president, you need some serious medication.
Meanwhile, every time you post I hear "pocketa-pocketa-pocketa."
This election sucks because there is a good chance that one of the three people running will be President. McCain's military favorable positions make him qualified to be a supporter of the military, but beyond that? I guess we'll find out, be sure has disappointed many of us as a Senator. Makes me wonder what being qualified actually means in 2008.
Let's say there are ten most important issues the next president needs to address. What his supporters are saying is that the other two potentials get all 10 wrong but McCain gets one thing right, but nine things wrong, so he's qualified. As logic goes, that's pretty thin.
First, we're talking more like six things, not one.
Second, when I use the word qualified, I'm not talking about ideology, I'm talking resume. Now for sure McCain is closer to we conservatives ideologically than HillObama, but on an experience level the two Dems wouldn't have any business in the Oval Office even if they were rock-ribbed conservatives. They have accomplished exactly nothing that qualifies them; Obama hasn't even had to win a real campaign to get any of the offices he's held.
On ideology McCain is the much lesser of two evils. On resume he is like Brett Favre standing next to Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian.
There are a lot of people in the POW/MIA community who hate McCain, but he’s made it clear that he thinks there’s nobody still over there, so when they act as if he’s knowingly abandoning live Americans or didn’t care in the first place they are attibuting motives to him he doesn’t have.
Here here! I’m with you Cinnamon Girl.
LOL!~ You sure opened a can of worms CG! Sheesh. I agree though, there is no point to McCain-haters continually repeating themselves. I find them tedious and boring and wonder what they think they will accomplish. Sort of like the Hucksters, who finally and thankfully have slunk away.
“If you cant bear the thought of one thread where you cant post your dislike, its pretty pathetic.”
Agreed. I think Sen. McCain is an incredibly rotten Presidential candidate. I will not vote for him and I will encourage others to refrain from voting for him as well. That said, I see some advantage to carving out a DITL niche for Sen. McCain supporters. I would hope that the same courtesy would be given to the Libertarian and Constitution Party candidates.
It’s up to Jim Rob of course. It’s his website.
