Will Rush Limbaugh Be Indicted for Voter Fraud?

As Ohio election officials investigate illegal crossover voting in the 2008 primary, questions arise on Rush Limbaugh's role.

Limbaugh, the nation's top-rated talk radio host, was urging Republicans in Texas and Ohio to skip their party's primary on March 4 and instead cast a vote for Hillary Clinton in order to prolong the fight between her and Barack Obama.

What Limbaugh encouraged Republican voters to do in Ohio was a fifth-degree felony in that state, punishable with a $2,500 fine and six to 12 months in jail.

On Thursday, March 20, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported that the "Cuyahoga County Board of Election has launched an investigation that could lead to criminal charges against voters who maliciously switched parties for the March 4 presidential primary."

In 2008, 2.22 million Ohioans voted in the Democratic primary, compared to 1.27 million in 2000, according to unofficial results released by Brunner's office. In contrast, 1.01 million Ohioans voted in the 2008 Republican primary, compared to nearly 918,000 people in 2004.

Michael Slater of Project Vote, a nonpartisan group that designs voter registration drives for low-income people, said GOP meddling in the Ohio Democratic Primary was a clear-cut example of fraudulent voting, which is how Republicans have defined the issue in recent years, as GOP advocates have urged state legislatures and Congress to adopt anti-fraud measures such as tougher voter ID laws.

"Here we have a real instance of spurring people on to engage in illegal election activities with a real intent to affect the outcome," Slater said. "That is voter fraud. People were encouraged to break the law. They had to declare allegiance to a political party and sign a document under penalty of perjury. Intent is what matters in voter fraud."

Ohio would have to prove that the voters who changed party affiliation were not sincere at the moment they changed.

Easy as pie. The Ohio version of Ronnie Earl convenes a Grand Jury and subpoenas some of the crossovers. After a throughout legal colonscopy at least a few will admit what they did, especially in exchange for immunity. Then all it takes is for one or two to admit they did it because they listened to Rush.

Maybe Rush won't get indicted, but a grand jury can still issue a report "blaming" him for inciting voter fraud.

Then, the Dems use that report in November to say "see what those evil Republicans did in our primary" and swing the state Dem.

This is why I have no sympathy for Rush. He's playing with fire and, after all his troubles in Florida he, of all people ought to know how dangerous a partisan special prosecutor can be.

I could be wrong, but I think cross-over GOPers were her margin of victory in Texas.

He’s way past the point of promoting himself. It’s power now. Wake up and smell it. Does he have any kids? He’s a funky MO.

“Rush is a selfish individual, not a conservative or a patriot he portrays himself.”

Really? I’m curious - what’s your definition of a conservative and patriot?

Definitely not somebody who under a smoke screen of "prolonging chaos in Dem camp" hides a personal agenda and by irresponsible action helps 2 Klintoon criminals to be elected to the Highest Office for 4, very likely 8 years.

Hope this satisfies your curiosity.

So I guess that makes me another idiot?

I'm not usually a big fan of name calling but some times it fits and I can say "yes", you must be an idiot too. Father forgive me.

Hardy to the extent that any RAT is. Besides, conservatives would be all over McCain if he gave any indication of supporting the FD as president.

“Clintons in Office are great for his business, it does not take a genius to figure out that the beast will be much harder to beat in November that Obamamamabama.”

Oh, please. Rush needs the Clintons to stay in business? There are an endless supply of dem/lib morons to carry Rush’s business for the rest of his life and he knows that. Clinton will be no harder to beat than Obama. Bet you didn’t think Obama would be ahead of Clinton at this point in the election season, did you? She’s easier to beat than you think.

Rush's move was in response to all the Dems crossing over to vote for McCain in the Republican primaries. I don't really think either party wants a prosecution coming out of these shenanigans.

So what?

First off, "Johnny did it too" is not a legal defense.

Second, you're assuming that, for example, the law is the same in New Hampshire as it is in OH.

Finally, you're forgetting that Dems have no problem resorting to the courts, even when the relief sought is specious, and they tend to get away with it because of a compliant media.

The dems and MSM keep telling us how people are flocking to the democrat party from the GOP. So IF that’s true, aren’t the numbers likely to be as stated?

They can’t have it both ways.

Eventually, the narrative will change to "the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy Stole the Nomination from Obama." Clinton, Inc., will gear back up, and El Rushbo will have gotten Hillary elected president.

A) It won't happen. This Clinton paranoia is getting so far out of hand its not funny. She will not win, take a Sominex and switch to decaf
B) The plan is a brilliant way to bleed the DNC of funds and divide the DNC.
C) They can indite Rush for suggesting to crossover

Only downside is to all of the OPERATION CHAOS is that this is a wasted effort to get an Liberal idiot like McCain elected!

Threat of legal action is likely a scare tactic, in the hope it will discourage this from happening the next time.

Obama is wounded as is.

The majority of voters will get over the Reverand wright epsisode in another week or two.

Limbaugh's continued efforts to prop up Clinton

Rush is right.

Rush seems to have done just fine throughout the 7+ years of the Bush II administration.

Rush is NOT a Conservative? Not a patriot? HAHAHA! If Free Republic gave awards for the most stupid comments posted, I think you you win that one.
I see some real kooks pop up from time to time with their "he isnt a conservative" comments that baffle me.. but this the first time Ive seen a post that was nutty enough to accuse Rush of not being a conservative! You may disagree with some of his opinions, but ... Rush isn't a conservative??? You must be a "REAL" conservative right? Not like Rush who isnt a conservative and isnt a patriot!! LOL! Ahh ... must be a full moon tonight.

What they don’t understand (and Rush seems to have forgotten) is just how much damage an overzealous Dem prosecutor can do.

Or the Senate Majority Leader either.
