A German retiree is taking a hospital to court after she went in for a leg operation and got a new anus instead, the Daily Telegraph is reporting.

The woman woke up to find she had been mixed up with another patient suffering from incontinence who was to have surgery on her sphincter.

The clinic in Hochfranken, Bavaria, has since suspended the surgical team.

Now the woman is planning to sue the hospital. She still needs the leg operation and is searching for another hospital to do it.

This is the same hospital that took a guy in to amputate his left leg, but they amputated his right leg instead. Then they had to bring him back to the operating room to amputate his left leg. And that guy couldn’t sue the hospital for one penny!!

Why — well he obviously had no leg to stand on.

"What do you think of the sphincter as a whole?"

It should be totally wiped out.

Shame on you! With the medical breakthroughs in surgery and there must be some in anal-modification (like breast modification and facial modification and so on) ... you know, an upgrade. This must be the new and improved model. Cosmetically pleasing and works extremely well. More smiles amd miles to the gallon ... so to speak.

Actually this type of mistake (mistaken identity of a patient) is fairly common. I have read of breasts removed off of people who were there for another proceedure. A friend of mine, took a womans gall bladder when she was there for a hysterectomy. You hear of people have their good leg removed leaving a gangrenous leg still attached These are not goood things to happen. Res ipsi locitur. When these things happen the surgeon has a lawyer rip him a new on. Nowhere to run or hide. The surgeon is in deep do-do.

My concern was that in Germany where medicine is socialized, the surgeon is a state worker and the victim probably has little recourse. So yer stuck with a bad leg and 2 anuses...ani.

I was thinking lawyers were the problem but then this happens and reminds me of the good aspect of having representation and the ability to sue their pants off.

I don't think that was the reason at all. They probably liked to continue the anal sex without the the need for "cleaning up" afterwards............

Well the mucous fistula (the remaining blind pouch segment of the rectum) does produce a thick, mucous plug, ever few days or so. It would seem it would not be that attractive. I do not know that for a fact. However the report given at the seminar was that these people liked the penile-colostomy sex. (someone once said it was getting a little on the side.)

I remember reading a story about 20 years ago (I don't recall where I read it, but it wouldn't surprise me if it had been a in trash tabloid) where a hospital in Switzerland found itself in similar straits.

It seems a patient who wanted some minor (read:elective) internal surgery got confused with a person who wanted a sex-change operation. (The nurse reportedly put the wrong folders in the wrong door's file holders.)

Well, of course, this didn't sit very well with the patient who wanted the elective surgery, but the upshot was, after the mistake was found out, the guy who wanted the sex-change operation decided he didn't want it after all!

The article ended speculating that the hospital would probably have to shut it's doors because of the sure-to-happen lawsuit.

I never heard about it again, which leads me to be a bit suspicious about the original story.

But hey! I'm just telling you what I read!!!

It was reported that one of the problems due to the homosexual 'assaulting' the rectum, often with foreign object, perforation was and is common. This, if high enough results in peritonitis and spillage of stool into the peritoneal cavity.

Boy, this gives new life to that old joke where the punch line is "... can I push in your stool"

I found it funny that a Texas Songwriter would be an expert on anus surgery.

Sorry.

Haven’t seen one lately. I got called to consult on one twenty years ago when the patient developed coagulopathy intraoperatively. Not sure what caused it but no matter what we did he wouldn’t stop bleeding. Not a good outcome.

Some of the head and neck cancer procedures are pretty mutilating, too.
