Barack Obama is preparing to deliver a major address Tuesday on race, politics and unifying the country after being hounded by questions about his relationship to a pastor whose sermons have been laced with anti-American invective.
In a speech whose religious significance could compare to one given in December by former GOP presidential hopeful and Mormon Mitt Romney, Obama may be forced to explain the philosophy of the 8,000-strong Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, where the Democratic presidential candidate has been a congregant for 20 years.
In announcing the morning address, to be delivered in Philadelphia, Obama would not say specifically what he will discuss, but suggested he wants to cool down the atmosphere after incendiary remarks by his pastor, retired Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr., blanketed the airwaves over the past week.

Slavery right out of the box...
Oh how guilty we all are...
Jeez Louise, look at the flags! Can you say overcompensating?
Our founding fathers created a evil, racist Constitution...
‘Scuse me.... gotta hurl...
I am reading along with him to see if he misses a word.
Yeah, like a train wreck.
More slavery talk.
White people living today have nothing to do with slavery. (and slavery ended 150+ years ago
I thought this was a campiagn about the future?
It’s the U.S. Founders’ fault. Always the white guys...
Yep, it’s the “white” voice today.
It looks like it’s a “shame on you for being white” speech.
He’s doing the Gore condescension lecture voice.
Sound system is still crappy, too.
Obama is NOT the descendent of slaves.
Any Christian recognizes that a man who is filled with as much anger as Rev Wright has is entertaining a few demons of his own.
The members of his congregation were inspired to adapt Wrights anger. Thats not Christian.
Obamas weird uncle defense doesnt bode well when common sense is applied.
Obama has said Wright is his spiritual adviser.
When you chose a weird uncle as your adviser, you get weird advice.
Obamas supporters seem more interested in seeing him win than his past accomplishments or his foundation.
A man who claims to embrace Christianity as well as partial birth abortion demonstrates that he serves two masters.
We cannot solve the challenges of our time unless we solve them together -
hey pal tell your preacher that -
Pretty much sums it up.
I’m sure they leaked it deliberately.
“Melissa somebody Blacks and others (whites) do not share the same vocabulary.
[What a load of BS Can you understand that, Melissa?]”
Hmmm, not so fast.
Considering the “divergence” of the black culture from the mainstream (white) culture in America for the last, say, 25-35 years (since the civil rights movement spawned ideologies such as “I’m black and proud!”), I think this woman may be onto something.
This isn’t to say that ALL blacks are on that divergent (read: diverse) course. To the contrary, those blacks who shun racial peer pressure and choose to follow the traditional mainstream values (and who often do quite well by them) may be derided as the “Uncle Toms” and “oreos”. Hence black resentment towards folks like Clarence Thomas, Thomas Sowell, and others.
The same “vocabulary”? Perhaps.
The same “values”? Perhaps not.
