[Elliot] Spitzer (D) Is Linked to Prostitution Ring

ALBANY - Gov. Eliot Spitzer has been caught on a federal wiretap arranging to meet with a high-priced prostitute at a Washington hotel last month, according to a person briefed on the federal investigation.

An affidavit in the federal investigation into a prostitution ring said that a wiretap recording captured a man identified as Client 9 on a telephone call confirming plans to have a woman travel from New York to Washington, where he had reserved a hotel room. The person briefed on the case identified Mr. Spitzer as Client 9.

Mr. Spitzer today made a brief public appearance during which he apologized for his behavior, and described it as a “private matter.”

“I have acted in a way that violates my obligation to my family and violates my or any sense of right or wrong,” said Mr. Spitzer, who appeared with his wife Silda at his Manhattan office. “I apologize first and most importantly to my family. I apologize to the public to whom I promised better.”

Thanks very much for the ping. I used to admire him from afar (Michigan resident) for going after white collar criminals when he was attorney general of the state. (Our attorneys general in Michigan have been pathetic. Kelley-Granholm-Cox) Many FReepers had different opinions of him. For a person that seemed to have a lot going for him my opinion of him has gone from high to HIGHLY NEGATIVE.

OK, Spitzer tried to hire a prostitute and that's IT...get over it
At first, I thought that he was running a prostitution ring or was a "pimp" or "john", but all he did was have a momentary lapse of judgment and call into hire a prostitute. One night, one mistake. I'm sorry but he's done too much to be railroaded for this.
The real issue is why was the NSA wiretapped the governor of NY's hotel room for no reason WHATSOEVER. This is Karl Rove trying to destroy our brightest stars.
Even I, as a 200% Obama supporter, can see it now. This is not what I first thought it was at all.
