Good, McCain won’t be losing out on many voters.

Keyes would mop the floor with McCain, as he did in 2000. If Keyes were to run as a third party candidate, expect the gatekeepers as usual to exclude Keyes from coming anywhere near the building of any of the Presidential debates .

As for what's next, a third party bid seems like a good bet.

Yeah, that'll energize the conservatives Alan. Sure.

In the November 2004 Illinois Senate election, Barack Obama received 70% of the vote to Alan Keyes's 27%, the largest electoral victory in Illinois history. Now he's thinking about running for President as a third party candidate?

What a great idea, Ambassador Keyes...you've never been elected to anything and it's good to see you're not missing the opportunity to keep your miserable record of abject failure intact!

Keyes would do for the Constitution Party what he did for the GOP in Illinois.

Wrong man for the job. I like him for the most part, but he just rubs a lot of people the wrong way.

Still, he's the best of the 4 in the race.....

McCain stinks, but I humbly suggest we get involved with helping conservative candidates in other races instead of devoting our time, energy, money and other resources to no-shot 'statement' presidential candidates.

There are plenty of real opportunities to help good conservatives win elections around the country, and the conservatives that we do elect this year could be our farm league for future presidential nominees.

We even have one of our own, John Armor, running for Congress in the 11th District of North Carolina - and you know he's a conservative.

Perhaps a website which lets liberals vote for Nader if we agree to vote for Keyes should be created?

I’ve been talking to you here at Free Republic and reading your work at Renew America, but I hadn’t made the connection between the two until today. I’ve enjoyed the columns.

Losing Alan Keyes is almost as serious a loss as losing Pat Buchanan. However will the Republican party get along without them.

If he does bolt, even as a 2000 Keyster, I won’t miss him. He’s jumped the shark.

I've been trying to warn Freepers as to the danger of the CP. Maybe this will open their eyes. The CP has no intention of ever winning an election. They're a bunch of hit-and-run cowards who take people's money and hope and then disappear.

If these people really cared about advancing the agenda we all want, they'd go to work in the only viable conservative party--the Republican party. We would be so much stronger.
