Bush always knows just where he is in this world. He is centered!....I dont care what anyone says! He's not a doctrinaire conservative, and some here don't like that.

Right, of course it would. But given our unfortunate choices, I will pick the lesser of the evils, and IMO that is McCain. I’ll stop complaining about it and I will not sit it out or write in a name to serve my personal purse.

given conservatives loathing of BushNot all conservatives loathe Bush. I certainly don't. As with those here to detest McCain, the numbers of those who feel the same way you seem to feel about Bush is not as large as you may think.

Guess they’ll just have to get over it.
I voted for him twice and I have NEVER regretted it!

Ann Coulter started a sub-movement of angry conservatives to the Hillary camp! This is no joke. Even Rush begged Texas cons to vote for Hillary (though that was just to keep Obama from winning the primary/caucus).Don't know about Ann, but Rush is only talking about the primary, and is doing that in order to keep Her Heinous and Obama at each other's throats for as long as possible. If she thinks she has a chance to win, she'll go for Obama's jugular, and will bring out stuff about him that McCain couldn't get away with doing, because he's a Republican.

How's that going on the wide-open border? Think McCain has any interest in fixing that little problem?McCain couldn't do anything about the border without the votes in Congress. That's why we need strong conservatives in Congress, but they won't get votes if the general electorate in their districts see nothing but negativity about the Party because some folks have their knickers in a twist about McCain.

Same here, hon! Bush didn’t do anything about immigration during his term in office that we didn’t know about before he was elected the first time.

If McCain had any sense he would stay as far away from Bush as possible. With an economic recession on, he should figure out a way to run against Bush.
Yes. This isnt a real bright move immediately after “winning” the nomination....esp w the economy slipping...and McCain’s only chance of winning being he needs liberal votes...the same libs who hate Bush

Your comment that I initially responded to was:
"For me the most important thing is national security. The rest can be put on hold for now."How do you reconcile that statement with fact that McCain doesn't want national security in the form of a secure border?
I'm also curious as to what the 'rest' that 'can be put on hold for now' refers to.

"Wonder what kind of VP we will get..." I would think Kucinich would be his Best Strategy.
That way he can tie up the Loony Left Vote and have Dennis nail down the "Lesser" Loony Left vote.

What some fail to realize is HOW MUCH we’re gonna miss W once he leaves office. Especially true if we get a Dem as POTUS. I’m not a big fan of McCain (heartbroken Mitt supporter here), but he’s far better than BHO or HRC.
I for one am gonna miss W... and I GUARANTEE everyone else here will miss him too in 2009. But for now, Mac’s back and we should be supporting him.

If you think national security is important, don’t dare look too deep into McCain’s Gitmo and water bording comments or his advocacy for the U.S. to normalize relations with Vietnam before our MIAs had all been accounted for.
It will cause you a Pepto Bismal moment to be sure.
