KING Staff and Wire Reports

WOODINVILLE, Wash. - Four large homes are burning at a "Street of Dreams" model home development north of Woodinville. Snohomish County District Seven Chief Rick Eastman tells KING 5 that a sign saying ELF was left at the scene.

ELF or Earth Liberation Front has claimed responsibility for other arsons, including one at the University of Washington in 2001 for which a woman is now on trial in Tacoma.

KING

A massive fire burned at least four large homes at a "Street of Dreams" model home development north of Woodinville early Monday.

No injuries have been reported in the three-alarm fire, which started around 4 a.m. Monday.

Eastman says some of the homes were still under construction. He said one is a total loss and two homes are substantially damaged. He says fires also were set at a total of six homes.

Eastman also said that the fires are suspicious because they were set in multiple places in separate homes.

The Street of Dreams is an annual showcase of luxury homes in the Seattle area. The latest development is off Highway 522 at Echo Lake Drive.

Eastman says police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are investigating.

There was a similar incident in a development under construction here in suburban N. VA two or so years ago. Everybody assumed it was ELF until it suddenly got out that the buyers were almost exclusively black folks. Then suddenly it turned out it was a racist security guard who did it.

I still wonder about that.

I’m not going to assume it was really ELF until the developer has been investigated. It’s just a bit too convenient. The houses were under construction and had not yet been sold. In this current real estate environment...

"Make no mistake: This IS Terrorism."

Yes it is. They're considered a terrorist group by the Justice Department.

Give them time. Their cause is as religious as any jihadist’s. They’ll kill for it once they work up the nerve.

"They’ve actually got a statue of Lenin there?"

Yep.

Some crank bought it from Russia in the early 1990's and it's on public display in the University (wouldn't cha know?) District of Seattle.

That ELF gang, “The Family” got hammered well-and-truly by a Fed undercover effort once domestic terrorism started being taken seriously post 9-11.

The birkenstockers have lost considerable enthusiasm for violence ever since “direct action” started carrying adult-size prison sentences.

"Funny thing is Woodinville is a long drive from Seattle."

Ah HA! So their carbon footprint was even bitter than I thought! How many Earths would it take if everyone else lived like those ELF members?

There was a great exhibit on Russia’s junked Lenin statures at the Smithsonian’s S. Dillon Ripley center in the early nineties.

There were some hilarious artists conceptions on what to do with them. Also a fascinating photographic essay on how the various statues had been displayed across the Soviet Union back in the day.

In towns in Soviet Central Asia some Lenin statues had been displayed rather subversively on garishly colorful tiled pedestals and fountains that aesthetically overwhelmed them.

Of course, under Pooty, a good many of them have been hauled out of the junkyard, refurbished and restored to their places.

Gawd do I ever hate McMansions (aka Hummer Houses or Starter Castles). Freakin' hideous.

And how I hate people who think they know what kind of house others should live in.

It's the freakin' elitists like you who allow the libs to tell us what kind of house/car/washing machine/lightbulb/food we ought to be able to buy.

Thanks for your pronouncements on high - not!

"Still have no idea what burning down homes does to help the environment"

If you ever find out, let me know. I'm still trying to figure out how hundreds of burning SUVs helps the environment.

So, ELF, just how much carbon are you guys spewing into the atmosphere now?

Exactly.. Just goes to show they care nothing about the environment and everything about their political agendas.

It’s a no growth agenda. The environment is just their vehicle of choice to advance it.

A Lenin statue in Seattle?
Hell, why not go all the way and put up one of Pol Pot or Stalin?
Or get a bunch of Left wing radicals to storm City Hall, trash the crap out of it and then,in defense of their actions, say,”The Lenin statue made me do it.All power to the Vanguard Party”.

Looks like some of the remaining dirtbag ELF freaks may be making a statement.

The jury in the Briana Waters arson trial is in it’s second day of deliberations today in Tacoma, WA.

Tre Arrow was extradited back to Portland, OR a few days ago from Canada for trial in arson incidents from a few years ago.

I bet the ELF people torching homes are the same people who believe in global warming. Their arson pumps more Co2 in the air than my car does in a year.

Is it NOT possible to stick cameras up in trees around these sites?
Actually, this is 2 miles from my house, it's a beautiful, wooded area: very hard to do more than post a trailer watch there.

Hi, neighbor! About 2 miles from my house too. I'm up the road near Lost Lake. The wife left for work about half hour before me around 6:20 and called to say she could see huge flames through the woods. By the time I went by about a half hour later all I could see was a lot of smoke and about 30 news trucks and cars. Acrobat is correct. This is a quite rural area with a few newer small subdivisions mixed in. It's very wooded, with a lot of 1,5, and 10 acre lots. We recently (last 2 years) had a problem here with a rash of burglaries. It took a concerted effort of local citizens groups to get the police involved actively enough to put a stop to it. The authorities can't cover these rurual areas very well. It ends up being a neighborhood watch situation. This particular neighborhood is about a quarter mile off the main road in thick woods. With none of these houses being occupied, there was no neighbor there to watch. I just hope that when they bulldoze the remains some other local moonbat doesn't get runover by the D-9. On second thought...........

That occurred to me, too, but an earlier poster on this thread said that "Street of Dreams" collects funds for charity.

I don't think a developer would burn a P.R. event/tax write-off...

Cheers!
