KING Staff and Wire Reports

WOODINVILLE, Wash. - Four large homes are burning at a "Street of Dreams" model home development north of Woodinville. Snohomish County District Seven Chief Rick Eastman tells KING 5 that a sign saying ELF was left at the scene.

ELF or Earth Liberation Front has claimed responsibility for other arsons, including one at the University of Washington in 2001 for which a woman is now on trial in Tacoma.

KING

A massive fire burned at least four large homes at a "Street of Dreams" model home development north of Woodinville early Monday.

No injuries have been reported in the three-alarm fire, which started around 4 a.m. Monday.

Eastman says some of the homes were still under construction. He said one is a total loss and two homes are substantially damaged. He says fires also were set at a total of six homes.

Eastman also said that the fires are suspicious because they were set in multiple places in separate homes.

The Street of Dreams is an annual showcase of luxury homes in the Seattle area. The latest development is off Highway 522 at Echo Lake Drive.

Eastman says police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are investigating.

Looks like it went from the “street of dreams” to the “street of no joy.”

Have to disagree Hair ... we have been quite lucky to avoid a major forest fire on this side of the mountains. Living up on Tiger, I can tell you a LOT of effort goes into keeping fuel (branches, leaves, etc) cleaned up on our property. Come August, if we still have fuel on the ground, it would take very little (a housefire) to ignite the entire side of a mountain.

Eco Terrorists strike again.

Their PETA cousins are harrassing scientists in California.

Elect Hilliarily, and these Eco Terrorists will become heroes again and white male Christians will become the enemy again.

I don’t even try to understand these types. They are warped and twisted mentally. They are religious zealots that are just as vehement as the Islamic jihadists in their own way. They really belong in an insane asylum, as they are totally incorrigible. The ELF groups are nothing more than terrorists in tee shirts and blue jeans................

So far, no one has been hurt, thank goodnss.

Beg to differ. Someone lost an awful lot of money in this. It takes a substantial amount of your life to accumulate the money to pay for a house (for most people anyway) and destroying their house is equivalent to taking away that part of their life. Arsonists should be shot on sight.

You know, everybody screams and whines about people in South America clearing rain forest land that they own for farming. But the same kind of people who go into hysterics over someone else clearing land for their own purposes are the ones buying the million-dollar houses on the brand new street next to my dad...where they ripped out the forest land that once belonged to a local farmer, who died and left it to his kids that couldn’t afford to farm it, or to pay the real estate tax.

As much as I dislike the “McMansion” building trend, this is a terrible anniliation of the hard work of good people.

Gawd do I ever hate McMansions (aka Hummer Houses or Starter Castles). Freakin' hideous. Wouldn't burn 'em down though.

Also hate the reporter's use of that smarmy real-estate-agent buzz word "HOMES." He deploys it about 50 times during that video.

They aren't "HOMES" -- they're houses, for pete's sake. Nobody's ever lived in them, so they ain't homes.

And no, to repeat, I don't condone burning them down, nor support ELF. Just hate the damn ugly developments (and yes, I'm rich enough to afford one or more of them, so it's not envy that makes me hate the tacky monstrosities).

You can bet these morons left lost of evidence. And with 6 homes having fires stated, it was a group, so it’s inevitable that the conspiracy will not remain silent.

That statue is in Jim McDermott's district, a world away from Woodinville..., but yes, they are completely given over to Socialism in that area.

"So, ELF, just how much carbon are you guys spewing into the atmosphere now?"

They should be dis invited from the next UN Earth Day Summit and fined 100,000 carbon credits each.
