BELGRADE -- Zoran Vujović, 21, has been identified as the victim in Thursday's fire at the U.S. embassy in Belgrade.
Vujović, whose family now resides in Novi Sad, was a Kosovo Serb, forced out of the province when he was 12 years old. His identity was determined through DNA analysis, a spokesman for a district court in Belgrade said.
The exact cause and circumstances of his death were not given, according to agencies' reports. Vujović's charred body was recovered from the embassy, which was vandalized and set on fire Thursday, after several hundred rioters attacked the building, while a mass peaceful rally was ongoing in Belgrade.
The post mortem, conducted at the Belgrade military clinic, VMA, took 12 hours Friday. But the identity could not be confirmed, since even the bones of the victim's arms and legs were completely burned, reports say.
He was first identified by his father, Milan Vujović, who recognized some of the personal belongings that were recovered, including his son's gold chain. The DNA analysis later confirmed this.
His parents reported Vujović missing late Thursday. On Friday, the victim's father was looking for his son in MUP detention facilities, thinking that he may have been detained during the unrest.
The Vujović family were expelled from Čaglavica, near Pritina, in July 1999.
Get used to it.
Like after all they have been through, they could afford a US Lobby to compete with the Saudis and the Albanian Mafia, combined?
Nice idea, but there is no oil in Serbia! Only a Christian nation who deserves to survive our politicians current suicidal love-affair with Islam!
They’ve got all the Russian money they could want...and Russia has more oil than it knows what to do with.
“If they were smart, they would have an aggressive U.S. lobby and an American PR offensive to link their struggle with Americas fight against Islamic terrorism and would move U.S. public opinion in their corner...forcing the administration to back off.”
Actually, that would have been pretty dang smart and useful to both us and them.
But, unfortunately, the Serbs had their problem come up before milblogging was sufficiently developed to counter the idiot spin of the mass media, so to the minds of most folk, the Serbs are just the latest genocidal scumbags.
I’m saying they are justifiably PISSED OFF at us.
You seem to know alot about this volatile situation...do you believe other Serbian countries will be brought into this? I’m concerned about Montenegro as we have ties there.
Thus, any group may at some time become "justifiably PISSED OFF" at us and attack a US Embassy?
Folk the world over have been trying to shove independence down “palestine” for decades. They’ve wanted no part of it. The palistinians only exist as a tool to use against the Israelis.
The palis will stay the worlds favorite bastard craptastic pusspile until the day after Isreal gets wiped out. If that never happens, the palis will remain for ever as they are. If it does happen, the palis will be exterminated by their fellow arabs/muslim who hate them only slightly less than they do the Jewes.
What about the folks in Kosovo who are getting support from the Saudi Wahhabists, including bin Laden? Are they terrorists too?
When the illegal immigrants demand independence for Aztlan, then you’ll know how the Serbs feel.
Your support for Russia and Serbia against the United States and NATO speaks for itself. You've gotten so deranged about Kosovo that your attitude is basically "piss on America and piss on our troops".
After seeing that vicious attack against our embassy in Belgrade the other day, it is obvious that President Bush has made the best choice he could under difficult circumstances. The Serbian Repubic has failed to demonstrate that they can govern themselves responsibly, so no one has any confidence in their ability to govern Kosovo. It would be a huge mistake to return Kosovo to the control of a bunch of drunken, nihilistic hooligans.
Imagine if the Mexican illegals were Muslim. They by virtue of numbers, of both illegals and their children, decided to take over parts of the Southwest, burn down churches and drive the indigenous population out. The US government then decided to react harshly against them. Those illegals then cried "discrimination and ill-treatment by the American government" and the UN intervened. The illegals were allowed to continue to kill and destroy and then declared "independence". The UN recognized them.
In a nutshell, this is the scenario. And in this scenario -- the "illegals" are the Muslim Albanians, "the US government" is really Serbia and "the UN" is really the US.
We had not right to intervene and steal someone else's property and grant it to someone else.
I’m saying that in this case I understand the frustration. They have been our allies forever, and then we bomb the crap out of them and screw them over to PROTECT OUR ENEMIES. Does that make sense to you?
At least in Iraq, they had it coming due to nonstop violations of the cease fire we signed back in '91 with Saddam. (Even if we never find the weapons of Mass Destruction, the war was still justified in my opinion.
I was thinking that.
remember when we were attacked on 9 11 and bush said we’re in a War On Terror? And then he said “you’re either with us or against us”? Well, the Serbians were fighting the War On Terror before we were. They were fighting it on their own soil against the same Jihadists who were already in the US planning 9/11. And then Bill clinton attacked them with the full force of the US military. Then the Serbs said “you’re either with us or against us”
If they attack an American Embassy, then yes, they are terrorists.
Exactly what they will demand, can't say. But they have the upper hand and they know it.
Again, I did not support Clinton’s actions in Serbia nor do I support Bush’s recognition of Kosovo.
However, I cannot condone an act of Terrorism against the United States of America.
