BELGRADE -- Zoran Vujović, 21, has been identified as the victim in Thursday's fire at the U.S. embassy in Belgrade.
Vujović, whose family now resides in Novi Sad, was a Kosovo Serb, forced out of the province when he was 12 years old. His identity was determined through DNA analysis, a spokesman for a district court in Belgrade said.
The exact cause and circumstances of his death were not given, according to agencies' reports. Vujović's charred body was recovered from the embassy, which was vandalized and set on fire Thursday, after several hundred rioters attacked the building, while a mass peaceful rally was ongoing in Belgrade.
The post mortem, conducted at the Belgrade military clinic, VMA, took 12 hours Friday. But the identity could not be confirmed, since even the bones of the victim's arms and legs were completely burned, reports say.
He was first identified by his father, Milan Vujović, who recognized some of the personal belongings that were recovered, including his son's gold chain. The DNA analysis later confirmed this.
His parents reported Vujović missing late Thursday. On Friday, the victim's father was looking for his son in MUP detention facilities, thinking that he may have been detained during the unrest.
The Vujović family were expelled from Čaglavica, near Pritina, in July 1999.
So the rioters killed one of their own. Brilliant.
Nothing more than another suicide bomber.
One more dead terrorist.
I have mixed feelings about this. Sad that anyone had to die -- especially one who had already suffered enough being driven from his home as a child -- glad that he was a Serb, only for the reason that the US could not turn this into a "someone shot our Archduke Ferdinand" scenario, dragging us into a new World War.
you would think a gold chain would have melted in a fire hot enough to burn away limbs
RIP.
If the Serbians were half smart... or at least smarter than your average window licking short bus rider, they’d stand back and watch Kosovo implode.
Serbia will get Kosovo back. But only after Kosovo has managed to collect a larger percentage of the local islamotards and then done those things necessary to make the rest of us come and stomp the crap out of them.
It takes time. But not so much time as folk might want to think.
The really big life lesson in all this is... europe, fix your own damn problems or shut up about how they get fixed.
Yep, thank God we helped those terrorists in Bosnia or they never would have been able to help knock those two towers down. /s
The Serbs aren’t the terrorists...the people we are supporting, they’re the terrorists. Please understand that.
Well, if Americans exhibited the same penchant for intellectual rigor they would figure out that they're next on the balkanization plan, say hello to Mexfornia.
Anyone that participates in the bombing or burning of a U.S. Embassy is a Terrorist.
fact is that those demonstrations were not anti-american, yet burst of outragge over Kosovo, per example, crowd beat-up Serbian, Dutch and Russian reporters, yet no foreigners were attacked. Serb Idea was “Kick diplomats and reporters it is their faoult!”
So, who was it that Attacked Our Embassy?
By invading our embassy, Serbia committed an act of war against us. They should consider themselves lucky we don't bomb them for attacking sovereign US territory.
I was against Clinton's intervention in the area, however, I have zero sympathy for rioters burning US flags. I put them in the same class as the Islamofascists. They both use the same fascistic tactic of violence and brute nationalism.
Bill Clinton’s 78 days of bombing Yugoslavia was illegal under every international agreement and our own Constitution. How dare those Serbs burn our Embassy.
Bill Clinton = Kosovo
Remember?
What do you call a relentless bombing campaign that kills thousands of civilians against a nation that did not attack you, is an undeclared war, and is not sanctioned by the UN? That's not terror? You are a putz.
But apparently, to some, there are bad terrorists and then there are good terrorists.
In my book they are all bad terrorists, no different than the thugs who bombed the US Embassies in Africa.
The U.S. Embassy fire was a deliberate act of terrorism. Are you claiming that the persons who set the fire were not Serbs?
