BELGRADE -- Zoran Vujović, 21, has been identified as the victim in Thursday's fire at the U.S. embassy in Belgrade.
Vujović, whose family now resides in Novi Sad, was a Kosovo Serb, forced out of the province when he was 12 years old. His identity was determined through DNA analysis, a spokesman for a district court in Belgrade said.
The exact cause and circumstances of his death were not given, according to agencies' reports. Vujović's charred body was recovered from the embassy, which was vandalized and set on fire Thursday, after several hundred rioters attacked the building, while a mass peaceful rally was ongoing in Belgrade.
The post mortem, conducted at the Belgrade military clinic, VMA, took 12 hours Friday. But the identity could not be confirmed, since even the bones of the victim's arms and legs were completely burned, reports say.
He was first identified by his father, Milan Vujović, who recognized some of the personal belongings that were recovered, including his son's gold chain. The DNA analysis later confirmed this.
His parents reported Vujović missing late Thursday. On Friday, the victim's father was looking for his son in MUP detention facilities, thinking that he may have been detained during the unrest.
The Vujović family were expelled from Čaglavica, near Pritina, in July 1999.
I recommend you topic search Kosovo and look at prior threads. It’s a complex problem most don’t understand. Ultra short story is poor Muslim Albanians have been moving into this ancient Serbian province for generations. Eventually they outnumbered the indigenous Serbs, began killing and driving the Serbs out and violently agitating for “independence.” When Serbia pushed back, our former president, with willing accomplices in Europe, self-servingly bombed the hell out of Serbia largely on the strength of very biased and self-serving Kosovar claims of atrocities. Now our current president is ready to recognize the independence of the Albanian encroachers who have employed garden-variety Muslim terrorism against the Serbs.
Media and Hollywood have really portrayed the Serbs as monsters. Like Israel they need a hard edge to survive as a nation but they’re actually a good people trying to prevent the heart of their ancient homeland from becoming a new, Muslim state.
911 woke many Americans up to the very real threat of jihad, it seems that many Americans in the past 8 years, including Jorge Bush have pressed the snooze button.
I didn’t come here to argue either, just to state unequivocally it is a serious matter to me when one of our U.S. embassies is attacked. I will not change my mind on that. And when I see posters declare that my country, the U.S., is a “terrorist country,” I will fight that. You are flat out wrong on that assertion, which is a serious charge. I see the pro-Serbians here being wildly hysterical, flinging accusations and charges at the U.S. and at posters like myself, and it doesn’t win me over to your point of view. It only reinforces my view that effective U.S. foreign policy involves two things: a) acting in the best interests of the U.S.; and, b) taking into consideration all factors in the bigger picture, aside from partisan concerns.
ooop boop bedoop!
:-P
“If they attack an American Embassy, then yes, they are terrorists.”
Gee, what does that make America? US did bomb the Chinese Embassy killing 3 Chinese staff members during the bombing of Serbia, or is that conveniently forgotten by you?
Oh, but right, that was a case of “old maps provided by the CIA”.
However, even that would not change that fact that the thugs that burned down the US Embassy are terrorists, no different than the thugs that bombed the US Embassies in Africa or one that bombs abortion clinics in the US.
But perhaps you are one of those that advocates the bombing of the United States of America if if furthers your agenda.
1979 Iran1998 Nairobi, Kenya, 1998 Dar es Saalam, 2006 Chad, 2008 Belgrade, Sebia...all embassy attacks with no immediate response to the terrorists. I agree with you on the terrorist attack on our embassy in Belgrade.
We have now three living Presidents that wholly do not understand that an attack on any of our embassies is an attack on our sovereign soil.
Unacceptable.
Don’t forget about Beirut 1983.

“Gee, what does that make America? US did bomb the Chinese Embassy killing 3 Chinese staff members during the bombing of Serbia, or is that conveniently forgotten by you?
Oh, but right, that was a case of old maps provided by the CIA.”
Flawed logic and flawed Serbian propaganda does not help your cause.
You tell me trumandogz...on one side you have:
a) The Chinese Embassy got bombed because of old maps provided by the CIA to the strategists that picked the places to bomb. Only problem was that until the Chinese Embassy got built at that location, the location was an empty lot. That is an empty lot with absoultely nothing that would be of interest for bombing (unless you think wasting a very expensive bomb on overgrown grass and weeds is a good move.)
on the other hand yoú have:
b) “rumours” that the Chinese were providing the Serb military with strategic information and in that way helping the Serbs move their artillery around among other things.
Now if you can get past your blind patriotism to see the bigger picture of things...which reason do you honestly believe was behind the Chinese Embassy bombing?
Personally I think you should be thanking GOD that the Chinese accepted the “official” reason of the bad maps. What I wonder is what America had to “pay” to get them to accept that reason.
Serbs were very restrained and disciplined in holding back, if they really hated us here in America, they would have taken down the entire embassy, which they did not.
If Texas was taken away from you in the middle of the night, how would you respond to the Mexican Embassy? Sending your thoughts in a public forum or letter of protest? I think you would act differantly and your reaction would be as severe or just as bad, wouldnt it? Wouldn't it be? I thought you would say that as I already know your atypical reply to that answer.
Exactly
The US doesn’t respect sovereignty of the nations, so why should it expects to have hers respected in kind? Pot meet kettle.
That was the official NATO explanation, not Serbia’s.
Oh please spare us the stump speech, US spends an enormous amount of my tax money to support teorrorists because you can’t seem to pull the flag out of your arse and think clearly is not our problem.
The people who firebombed the American Embassy in Belgrade aren't terrorists? Out of curiosity, what's your definition of "terrorist?"
Excellent point. I guess I should support people burning the American flag. It's the conservative way.
Memory Eternal.
