Clinton could turn toxic as options dry up (Memo: Hillary To Go Nuclear Against Obama)

Analysis: Clinton could turn toxic as options dry up

The Wisconsin defeat for Hillary Clinton means that she has to win big on March 4 - and may campaign more negatively

A few months back, as Barack Obama’s campaign was just beginning to look like it might seriously challenge Hillary Clinton’s presidential ambitions, a senior Obama campaign official sent a warning to his staff.

It was a succinct message designed to forewarn and forearm his people against what was expected to be a ferocious onslaught from an increasingly desperate Clinton campaign.

“Better get your hazmat suits on”, the memo told them

Mrs Clinton is running out of options. There’s a growing sense that she may now choose to go aggressively negative. She is under pressure from some in her campaign to step up the attacks on Mr Obama, especially over his inexperience.

The Clinton campaign may need to reach deeper into the negative campaigning armoury if they are to have any chance. They will doubtless be looking at Mr Obama’s remarkably low negative ratings in polls and wondering how they can push them up.

Until now the danger has been that negative attacks could backfire. That is a risk that will probably now have to be taken, even if it damages the Democratic party as a whole. The Clintons have only a matter of days to save their lifelong aspirations. They will not give them up without a fight.

Vote Obama and sweep that woman into the dust bin of history.

Oh, that would feel good, wouldn't it? Just like verbally lashing out at the police officer that pulled you over for running a yellow. Feels good. Long term, though, very destructive.

Shrillary has to go into the convention with less delegates than Obama, but still close enough that they can use the super delegates to get the nomination.

The results of this are a deeply fractured Dhimmicrat party, a huge voting block that stays home, and a Dhimmicrat defeat in Nov 2008.

This is one of the reason I doubt the Coke/Oral sex story. If this was really true someone in the Clinton entourage would have made it a big story by now and then dutifully fallen on his/her sword as Hillary decried such negative campaign tactics.

I agree with you wholeheartedly.

We have a chance to put a stake into the heart of the “clinton restoration.” This is a historic obligation for Conservatives. We need to stand up and end this obamanation(no pun intended) once and for all.

We’ll deal with the other Abomanation later.

I am sure that President Clinton would offer a job to the nice black guy...

Not only nice, but clean and articulate...

Seriously, I hope that she and Bill end up stealing the nomination.

So do I. The Dem convention is the entertainment event of the summer, and I'm stocking up on Orville Redenbacher's, Dove dark bars, and Diet Coke. The Repub one will make Ambien obsolete.

Too late — she’s already there!

And too many conservatives cannot enjoy anything, but have to find something negative in everything.

The wicked witch has something up her sleeve for Baraq. Knowing the hildabeast, it will be underhanded and below the belt. Of course, these tobacco road rogues are capable of the most depraved acts in their lust for power.

You also have to remember Hillary will try to seat the Michigan and Florida delegates. I happen to think Obama can’t be ahead by too many delegates because the Clinton’s will pull out all the stops, regardless of his delegate lead. I can’t see a scenario developing that Hillary won’t try to steal it so if she does somehow, it will be even more outrageous to Obama supporters, especially the blacks.

Negative ads will help with the undecided. Anyone who hasn't chosen by now must have lingering doubts about the holy Obama-Child. Those no-brain-bots who are already in the tank for Obama are beyond redemption and unmovable by anything short of the Second Coming. So she might as well go negative, she has nothing to lose.

Now everybody talks about the Clintons pulling a coup in the convention with the superdelegates

The action with the supes will be Billyboy going one-on-one with them during the summer, over the phones and behind the scenes. The action at the convention will be in the Rules Committee, over FL and MI for openers.

Could Hillary run as an independent if she loses the nomination?

I suppose she could pull a Lieberman and run as an independent. Of course she might have to settle for Veep of the two remaining candidates.
