Guys like you are funny.

I have been running a PC, first DOS then WIN since 1992. In that time, I have contracted one virus (back in 1994). That caused me to reinstall DOS 6.22 because it infected the command file.

I haven’t had a virus since, and I don’t run a virus scanner.

But then again, I like knowing how computers work, so “it just works” doesn’t fly with me that well. I’m of the old school that believes that if someone doesn’t know what’s going on under the hood, they have no business at the keyboard. I know that this is an impossibility now that computers have integrated themselves into everything and has redefined communication as we know it, but still.

I like my PC, and I can do everything THAT I WANT TO DO on it. for me, and I’m sure like others like me, there is zero reason to convert to a Mac system.

Besides that, I can’t get past their Mac release advertisements back in the mid-1980’s:

“A computer... for the REST of us!”

No thanks.

APf

Why would I boot up Windows in native mode on an Apple? Just so I can spend more money for the pleasure?

It is a practical arrangement for gamers. Apple's applications can be used for everyday tasks like using the Internet or office work, then the Mac can still boot up native-mode Windows to play a game or something.

For non-CPU intensive Windows applications, there is probably no benefit to running Windows in real mode on a Mac, so Windows-under-VM is the ideal environment.

I'm a designer, and I have always used Macs. There is nothing I need that I cannot do on the Mac.

"I can't explain it...just how I feel."

There's a nice liberal sentiment! Try "prejudiced" and "ignorant".

FYI, the Mac hasn't had a "chooser" for years -- but it never made you go to "My Computer" ...just to look at your hard drive...

What I meant was I can't explain why I have the same feeling for mac users as I do democrats. I can explain ad nauseum why I don't like MACs or democrats.

Well, that is my impression of most Windows users, and your comments reinforce that view.

Believe me, my computer knowledge is far above average. I make my living in IT. Also, I am talking about MAC users in general, not the product (for the most part).

You have GOT to be kidding, right? LOL!!!

Apples make the absolute WORST gaming environment ever. Of course, if you would want to change out the graphics card for a gaming one then you would be out of luck....

So your extreme reaction actually comes as a result of feeling stupid and taken advantage of?

No, actually I've been an IT professional for 25 years, and have run my own business for the last 13.

I have this "bad" habit. When we go to our local mall to shop, I like to go to the Apple store while my wife shops for clothes. I engage a "genius" in discussion without letting on that I've been heavily involved in computers since before they were born. It's fun to see their ignorance, all in the name of supporting their cult...

"I haven’t had a virus since, and I don’t run a virus scanner."

If you don't run a virus scanner, how can you know for sure that you're virus-free?

"But then again, I like knowing how computers work, so “it just works” doesn’t fly with me that well. I’m of the old school that believes that if someone doesn’t know what’s going on under the hood, they have no business at the keyboard."

That makes you the snob, doesn't it?

There is no problem getting under the hood of a Mac. There is a whole UNIX subsystem in there for anyone who wishes to access it, and free tools like XCode to create new software.

We have had the beach ball of death come up three ties in the 4 month that we have owned our Mac and each time we have had to literally UNPLUG the sucker to get it to run again. Once we had to call Mac Tech Services because the whole thing crashed and would start up.

On a PC if you have a problem, which is rare unless you have a faulty piece of third party software, you just hit Control/Alt/Delete and everything gets fixed.

Nope, there are plenty of reports of Mac users who boot up Windows to play games, and they are satisfied with the experience.

I don't play "computer games" myself. But in the game of politics - the sport of kings - the Mac is definitely the superior platform.

Crucial Brand. Cost me $79.00

I am my own “Mac Genius”. LOL.

Refresh my memory. Are you the poster who has one Mac and a few pcs?

On my MacBook Pro, the control/apple/power reboots. Only have had to use it once, and in that case, it was my fault.

Sorry, missed this. You're kidding, right? Can any other PC user here back up this claim??

Thankfully PC users aren't limited to this single (first release) OS and there are several to choose from that are stable. How many OSs do you have to choose from on your Mac?

Every one you can run on your PC, plus Mac OS.

Bill Clinton got impeached because a Mac was used as the research tool during the Juanita Broaddrick scandal.
