>It doesn’t matter to me at all, though I am rather tired of listening to the arrogance of Mac owners.<
That’s odd. From where I sit (and I’ve got four XP machines, and one macbook) most of the flaming and nastiness is coming from those people who’ve decided that *all* Apple users are liberal moonbats.
pretty good numbers however,
there are a lot of conservative
mac users out there
All I wanna know is, how did you ever get my picture here so fast?
I used to derisively refer to the MacOS systems as "Macintoys," but after I got a Mac Mini and downloaded the developer tools so I could compile my own stuff on it, I got to liking it well enough. It's not my primary system (I prefer Linux as a rule), but I must confess that I prefer it over Windows, especially Vista.
Well, that just made my day. Thank you :)
OS X will recognize almost anything USB. Just plug it in. Within a few seconds (the first time and instantaneously after that), it should work fine.
Just because PCs don’t show you the hourglass icon anymore doesn’t mean that the system is making you wait while it processes information. Ever had a “stall” on your PC? The PC is making you wait while it processes, but it is not showing you an icon letting you know what it is doing. At least the Mac shows you the icon and it lasts for maybe one or two seconds. I have not been irritated with the pinwheel.
“Amiga 3000 owners of the world unite!”
Somebody really knows how Apple came up with it’s “innovative ideas.
Very good. I will give it a try.
He said simply, Mac makes our presentations do backflips, but can it defrag a DNA string, and send the code to Hopkins? Hardly.
I see posts like this every once in awhile and they are a trip. It's as if I've somehow been transported back in time in cyberspace to the 90s.
Given Mac's are now based on Intel processors, Macs can not only boot on most flavors of Windows, but they can also run some popular Windows software without having to run any Windows OS.
Also note that the Mac OS X is actually a flavor of industrial grade UNIX.
Great tagline.
Probably not, since most tool users know DeWalt is just a recycled brand of Black and Decker.
I prefer Porter-Cable and Milkwaulkee tools myself, but DeWalt is OK.
I think it speaks volumes that everyone here, on both sides, knows what the Blue Screen of Death is.
Outstanding. I'd have loved to have a seat at that table!
BTW - I like OpenBSD. A really solid implementation of BSD.
Absolutely. And contrary to popular opinion, I think Theo's a fairly nice guy. He was very personable when I spoke with him at a Black Hat conference in Vegas a few years back.
The reason I came back to the Mac? IMO, OS X has reached a point of maturity where it suits me and Vista has reached a point where it does not.
Agreed. I picked up the Mac Mini I have just before they started shipping them with Intel chips. It was a good price for a workstation and has performed exceedingly reliably over the years. The form factor is tough to beat, too. And with the Keyspan USB-PS/2 adapter, hooking it into my KVM switch was a breeze.
I refuse to put up with the DRM crap now festooned upon Vista,
I'm with you there. The only reason Vista is even in my shop is so I can keep ahead of the curve for my customers. If it wasn't for that and my occasional immersion into Battlefield 2, there wouldn't be any Windows boxes in my home.
Im too old and too tired to get a stiffy over which OS I used. Just cant muster enough passion to give a darn any more. Ive got only so many years left on this rock and Ive got to use my time more wisely.
Wise words indeed. I used to get all geeked out over this stuff, but since the birth of my son, I've got a whole new perspective on what's really important...and it ain't bleeding-edge technology! It's a little guy who furniture-surfs, claps with glee, and brightens the whole world with his giggles. :-)
Sure you can! Try just plugging them in and see if they work. Since they are Microsoft, tho, chances are Bill wants you to have to download some drivers for them.
Don't be afraid to mess around with your Mac. They are very tolerant, even of 3-years olds (don't tell my kids I let their kids play on the blue and tangerine iMacs!)
I just threw away a Dell mailer. It was crowing about 2 new products obviously designed to compete w/ Macs.
Well guess what? The laptop had close to the same system as my Mac Book Pro except it had a 13" screen instead of my 15".
Oh, it is $200 more than my Mac.
Have you priced OSX Leopard? $149, that probably has everything any Vista version has, and likely more.
I have 2 Dell desktops w/ XP. They are ok but when I need to upgrade it won't be to a PC.
Mr. vinnie
“lowered the price to something slightly less”
$599 to $399. $200 is more than “slightly less.”
Well, that is my impression of most Windows users, and your comments reinforce that view. But the average computer user shouldn't have to be an expert in order to use their equipment - they just need a machine that works right. Macs do a better job at that.
For me I have a lot more fun with PC's running MS or Linux. I am a computer enthusiast.
Macs run MS and Linux operating systems just fine, and most Linux programs are available for native execution in Mac OS X.
Oh, and the ones that never quite get cured after a spyware infection.”
I don’t think I would want you to work on mine.
I don’t have any problem “curing” an infected machine.
