this guy is a huge kill. arguably, he’s more dangerous than bin laden, and his history goes back decades

Marine Barracks in ‘83
US Embassy in ‘83
Hostages at the Sheik Abdallah Barracks in Baalbek. According to Bob Baer he was the guy that ran it and personally tortured Bill Buckley to death
TWA 847
Col. Higgins in ‘87
Buenos Aires bombings in ‘92
Khobar Towers in ‘94

He was Iran’s top terrorist operator. So good to write “was”.

This is huge. If Bush had any good communication skills and knew how to use the bully pulpit, which he doesn’t, he’d be trumpeting this to the heavens. McCain should jump on it big time.

The Mossad strikes again and they must be celebrating big time on King Saul Blvd in Tel Aviv.

Olmert is completely clueless but he didn’t screw this one up. I have to think Barak was involved given his history in the raid on Beirut in 1973 and Entebbe.

Hezbollas is the A Team of terrorists and this guy was their Mr. T.

Hopefully Nasrallah is next on the list along with the top leaders of Hamas.

Not bad to get the attack on the joint Syrian-Iranian facility in Spetember and to get Iran’s top terrorist and embarass Assad and Syria all in one fell swoop.

Any other comments you may have as to how this affects the strategic picture over there are welcome

I think Nasrallah was also a target. Given Mughniyeh and his #2, they may have thought he would be present also.

that’s what I don’t get. His funeral will be thursday in Beirut. You have to figure that thousands of Hezbollah’s most hard core supporters and top leaders will be there. I’d take out the whole group and eliminate Hezbollah. But no one has the balls to do it. Too bad.

Good Lord --- surely the Arabs don't regard Brzezinski or Obama as "intellectuals"!!!

Let us not forget - he was Carter's National Security Advisor, and rarely got ANYTHING right....

Israel Denies It Killed Wanted Militant

JERUSALEM (AP) - Israel on Wednesday denied involvement in the assassination of Hezbollah fugitive Imad Mughniyeh, a militant also wanted by the U.S. for his suspected role in the death of hundreds of Americans.

“Israel is looking into the reports from Lebanon or from Syria regarding the death of a senior Hezbollah official, and is learning for the first time the details being reported in the media in the past few hours,” Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert’s office said.

“Israel rejects the attempt by terror groups to attribute to it any involvement in this incident. We have nothing further to add,” read the office’s statement.

Hezbollah charged that Israeli agents were behind the death of Mughniyeh, who was reported to have been killed in a car bomb explosion in Damascus, the Syrian capital, on Tuesday night.

The killing was a blow to the Lebanese group, which fought a bitter 34-day war against Israel last summer.

Mughniyeh was charged with involvement in a string of attacks against U.S., Israel and Jewish targets since the 1980s.

“Israel denies involvement in Mughniyeh assassination”
By GIL HOFFMAN AND JPOST.COM STAFF

ARTICLE SNIPPET: “”Mughniyeh was one of the most dangerous and cruel terrorists,” Former Mossad head and Labor MK Danny Yatom said. “This is a huge achievement for the war against terror.”

“Mughniyeh was living on borrowed time,” Likud MK Silvan shalom said. “He is responsible for many deaths and his passing is a contribution to the international community’s war against terror.”

“When bastards like Mughniyeh, whose hands are covered in the blood of Israelis, Argentian Jews and Americans, go on to a ‘better place’, our world also becomes a better place,” Former chairman of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee MK Yuval Steinitz (Likud), said.”

Mugniyeh taught Al Qaeda how to make truck bombs that actually go “BOOM”, (see Aden Hotel attacks for more info) and also taught Al Qaeda their supposed signature technique of mulitple, simultaneaus attacks, during AQ initited consultations in Sudan, circa 1994.

Traditionally, neither Hezbollah nor Hamas respond directly to targeted assassinations. Instead, the provocation adds to the background radiation and is dissipated during larger, more significant general offensives or planned political-military maneuvers.

Operationally, Mugniyeh was probably inert. He knew a lot of people, he had a big rep, he pioneered many terrorist techniques, but he appears to have been in semi-retirement, trotted out for appearances, while generally workiung behind the scenes monitoring and assessing training operations. His techniques are now part of the public domain, and his loss will not significantly reduce terrorist capabilities, since others can take over where he left off.

All that said, I’m thrilled somebody finally punched his ticket and I’ll happily volunteer to water his grave, even if it requires standing in a long waiting line. A victory like this is second only to the violent death of Al Zawahiri, in my opinion.

Thank you for that information. And thank you, Israel!!! No doubt some heinous acts will now be done against Israel in retaliation for this.

So, thank you again, Israel!

Getting Mugie is a pop the champagne corks time. He’s been murdering Americans for 30 years. I hope the US did it. I hope America killed the creep. And it would be a start of what we need to do in Syria.
