Well, it does matter a little bit. Brzenski is visiting...so Mugniyah could have been building a bomb to go after a high profile American.
That Mughniyah would instead be done in by his own bomb is somehow fitting, though.
But, we need to be aware if there is an active plot against a friendly HVT in the region. So that’s why it matters a little.

I have to wonder, what was the last thing to enter his mind?
I'd like to think that it was a piece of shrapnel that had the "made in USA" stamp on it...

Great news! This was a seriously bad guy. I hope he’s enjoying his 72 Helen Thomas’s in hell.

Syria has been trying to run Lebanon for decades. It is a clear enemy of Israel. Zig should know better than to run a Secretary of State type function from the private sector.
I believe that is a violation of U.S. law.

The hits just keep coming!! Time for a surge in Afghanistan and Pakistan’s FATA.
I remember waking to the news of the Marine barracks in Lebanon that day .. without a shot being fired.. the loss of so many fine young men.
For that alone, who ever clocked him out .. Well Done!

I'm not buying a work accident.
Wretchard highlights this point from Robert Baer today on his blog..
Mughaniyeh was regarded as a particularly difficult target. Wikipedia quotes Robert Baer, a former CIA officer as saying, "Mugniyah is probably the most intelligent, most capable operative weve ever run across, including the KGB or anybody else. He enters by one door, exits by another, changes his cars daily, never makes appointments on a telephone, never is predictable. He only uses people that are related to him that he can trust. He doesnt just recruit people."
Nope not a work accident....not buying.
Someone worked very hard to bring him to justice.

So what??? Another scum bag will fill the slot... Not so much. That old "head of the hydra" conventional wisdom that says every time you kill one, another crops up... is turning out to be demonstrably not true.
As it turns out, when we kill one they tend to stay dead. The more of them we kill the harder their recruiting becomes, not easier. This is excellent news.

Now if only someone had the nads to take out the entire funeral, or at least the speakers platform, since there will be a sewer full of mass-murdering terrorists there...Wouldn't that be sweet. Which would be better-fuel/air explosives or cluster bombs? I tend towards the FAE myself barring the use of a plain old nuke.

Someone worked very hard to bring him to justice. I agree. Whoever smoked this guy must be really, really good. I'd like to think our team was in on it, though my gut says "Mossad".
