Lots of things could happen between now and the Convention...McCain is old.

That is true. I have written that I won't vote for McCain, but fate is a powerful argument. God forbid that terrorists should strike the White House; or an American president die in office due to an accident or illness, or voluntarily step down due to disabling illness...but in the event, do we want McCain's vice-president, or Clinton's?

That said, I don't believe McCain has a prayer of winning the election.

Oh, and Fred? Thanks for your leadership. /s

Me, too. And I do have respect for McCain for spending 5 years in hell in VietNam. That had to take determination just to survive. It seems everyone goes around saying Support the troops” all the time but are willing to turn them over to the likes of Hillary or the Ayatollah Obama. Not me. I really mean it when I say I support the troops.

Didn’t Maggie Thatcher say that “Compromise is the absence of leadership’? Well, here you go.

Either way, even if people vote for the SOB, McCain, they are going to get a heavily loaded with Democrap Congress, many Pubs are getting out this time. McCain will just go along with the Democraps because he is one.

We are going to get GWB redux, but worse. Oh well, McCain won’t win anyway.

So, McCain-light endorses McCain.

I would quote Gomer with “surprise surprise”, but it was no surprise.

Some of us were posting about McCain-light even before he sauntered onto Leno’s The Tonight Show and announced his run. We were skewered by other posters. McCain-light thought he would just stroll into the presidency. That didn’t work.

Ironically, many are still hoping McCain-light will be on the ticket, yada yada yada.

==

Learn from this however! Thompson shows his true colors and endorses his good friend and former Senate colleague. Thompson really has not changed. This is the same Thompson, by endorsing McCain, who chaired the committee and help write McCain-Feingold-Thompson Campaign Finance Reform, an overt assault on the First Amendment.

Do not expect McCain, if elected president, to suddenly change his spots and to evolve into a strict conservative. It will not happen. McCain will continue to be McCain -- only with the power, then, of the Presidency behind him. McCain will rely heavily on his good 'friends': Kennedy, Kerry, Lieberman, Collins, Specter, Snowe, etc.

I'm sorry, but what on earth are you going on about? Your post was not very cogent or clearly written. Are you saying that every single person in Iraq was responsible for 9/11? And since when is the just war doctrine "old and tired?" There are certain principles that are timeless. That's why the bible is still relevant today, thousands of years after it was written. Are you saying that there should be no criteria for war whatsoever? In other words, are you saying that the justness of a war is not even an issue?

I really think we’re going to be saying heil to President Obama-sama.

And yet you are willing to throw your vote away and not even try to stop it. Sad.

And it’s still the same - the candidate does not decide, arbitrarily, who his running mate is going to be.

Not to be suborn about this. - you see, I’m still curious why you say that.
I mean it sounds okay and rational, but I still do not see what anyone else can do if a candidate simply declares someone, and I do not see any basis to suppose that he cannot.

I suppose the GOP could withdraw endorsements and support from the candidate, but that would be an empty threat, don’t you think?

His delegates are still hand picked by his own organization and look to be pretty much his.

Certainly any candidate has spent a lot of time in close cooperation with his own party, but McCain also fits a more contrarian mold, as well.

If it seems that I’m being very careful here, I am.
I don’t need another deleted post, even if I see no reason for that deletion.

Fred lost. I’m sorry to say that as I tallied up my donation checks today, but it is reality. I’m not willing to just throw in the towel to jihadists for the sake of pie in the sky. My children are not going to live in a USA populated with suicide bombers trying to impose sharia law. Our ancestors gave their lives for this country and we are going to give it away because the conservative cause didn’t prevail this election?

Bears repeating!

You need to step back away from politics for awhile. Never let who wins elections ruin your life.
