That’s what I’ve come to think as well. Also, McCain stuck his neck out and supported Bush on Iraq when pretty much everyone else was jumping ship. For that, I’m willing to forgive him for the other crap he’s pulled.

An endoresement AFTER mcCain wins isn’t really an endorsement. It’s a let’s come together for the party thing. I’m not surprised nor disheartened by this. I’m struggling to find the good in McCain cuz I’d really hate for the RATs to get in office.

But I still think McCain would do more long term damage because there will be no opposition party to his liberal agenda. But I guess we have a slightly better chance at getting a good judge out of McCain than a Hillary judge.

But if Hillary wins I’m pretty sure in 2 years the House and Senate would be in conservative hands again.

Now it’s time for McCain to do the right thing and put Fred on the ticket. (And after the election, Dick Cheney can take McCain hunting).

That's good. In all seriiousness, I can't say that I'm surprised. If McCain knows what's good for him he will choose Fred as his VP hoping to rally conservatives. It's his only hope.

Everyone cries (rightly so) when Giuliani endorses McCain, with the only choices of him or Huck, but then when Fred does you make excuses. Can’t have it both ways.

That doesn't make the least bit of sense. There's no excuses to be made - the race is over. And I made no comments about Giuliani, so that makes even less sense for you to direct that at me.

I’d love to take credit, but that was W.C. Fields.

How can you like me? You don’t even know my politics? LOL.

Fred stated early on that he would support the party’s nominee. Now we know who’s going to be the nominee.

I’m actually very happy about this. McCain is the best of the rest and maybe we can have a good conservative VP. McCain is older than Reagan and will be the oldest President to have won the White House. Better McCain than Huckabee or Romney. I didn’t like any of them but if one was weighing records of conservatism McCain is clearly the winner. It doesn’t say much for the health of the Republican party but regardless we need to think beyond our distaste for McCain.

As I recall, Senator Thompson helped Senator McCain on any number of issues. Besides that they were friends. So much so, it was thought that FT would never run against McCain.

FT is a realist. He does not hate anyone. He does get along with people he has differences with. He realizes, whether he liked it or not, the voters chose Senator McCAin over Senator Thompson.

FT is a rational, reasonable person who made a rational, reasonable decision. Some may not like it, but it tells you more about them than about FT.

But there are a few bringing up a valid point. How come we cant find anything in the AP about it?

I doubt Thompson will be the VP nominee. Two old guys on the ticket would put Pelosi closer to the white house.

I don't know why anyone should be surprised about this. What was Thompson supposed to do? McCain is the nominee, of course Thompson endorses him.

I am worried that the next shoe to drop will be McCain's selection of Huckabee as veep. If that happens, they will make the least appealing set of Republicans I have ever seen in a presidential race.

He endorsed him in 2000 also. He is a long time McCain pal. I tried to remind everyone of that but no one would listen. Perhaps no one will still listen. It’s still the truth even if people ignore it.

Saying that these two men are disappointing is not saying I will vote dem.

And of course I am going to snip and bitch about this for awhile at least because I am disgusted at the choice.

The two guys who are the most conservative could not pull it together enough to make it to the end of the race.
