Are there any Freepers who support John McCain?
If you support Mr. McCain, can you make the case for your man?
Can you make the case without bringing up the War?
Can you make the case without bringing up Judges?
Can you make the case without using any ACU ratings? (Those don't impress anybody.)
Can you make the case without insults or telling people to "calm down"?
Can you make the case without the type of lying and dishonesty we've come to expect from John McCain and his special friend Mike Huckabee?
Can you make the case without trashing Barack Obama?
Can you make the case without using Hillary Rodham Clinton as some kind of boogyman or boogyperson?
Can you?
The ball is in your court.
The jihadists would of course fear McCain most, as would the pro-abortion crowd. And for those two reasons, I (though with bitterness) would force myself to vote for McCain.
But we’re in for some hard times no matter how you look at it, because this McCain can’t be trusted to be loyal to conservative causes. What loyalty has he showed us thus far when voting against the Bush tax cuts, supporting illegal immigration and amnesty, and by collaborating with liberal politicians, resulting in catastrophes like McCain-Feingold, Kennedy-McCain, etc. etc.?
It is almost a certainty that McCain will lose, with or without the conservative vote.
Even against Her Hagness, the Shrieking Shrew, he has almost no chance.
Of those “moderates” and “independents” that were pulling for him to be the Republican nominee, the overwhelming preponderance will vote for whatever totalitarian statist the Democrats nominate.
Why go for a decrepit geriatric who has not been a paragon of loyalty, even to his own party, who has shamed himself and his party with exhibitions of intemperance and rage, who is Democrat Lite, when you can have a real, committed socialist that promises to be nice to everybody and give out freebies?
And that’s before the Democrat party unleashes its weapons of war on him.
YES! (Not me, but without even reading this marathon-length thread, I’m willing to bet that there are... ;>)
No......I would not fight a humanitarian mission. I believe in projecting our power punitively only. Rebuilding only after the war is over. Iraq has never been and never will be a productive, resourceful, industrious nation and that is because of Islam. Our past enemies fought in uniform for a standing army and those nations had they won the war, would not have went on to become self-destructive.
Imagine if half the people in the U.S belonged to gangs. How brutal would our central govt have to be to put them down? Pretty damn brutal! And since we will not ever be, a central govt in Iraq needs to fight the counter-insurgencies. I have no problem with our troops assisting them and getting them trained and on their feet but this is insane that we are still there after almost 6 years. For the love of God, we defeated two superpowers in WWll in less time. Liberalism has infected Republicans too and at the highest level of our govt to include our foreign policy makers and it’s going to get a lot of us killed. So all of you so concerned about being attacked again, better wake up to the damage liberalism is doing. It has conditioned our society for so long that we now think Pres. Bush and McCain are strong when it comes to our natl security strategy. Lord help us.
sorry, that was done in bad taste wasn't it !
> Who are you to seemingly cast shame upon other folks because they don’t see things your way?
I’m just me. Thanks in advance for electing Clinton or Obama. They are worse than McCain.
No, I loved that post. I was just referencing back to your rethink this afternoon. I’m sarcastic too. heh
> shamed himself and his party with exhibitions of intemperance and rage
He is not as bad as Hillary Clinton.
John McCain is a patriot who’s faced the enemy and deepened his love of country while being deprived of her in a POW camp. He understands the biggest challenge of our time, radical Islamic extremism. He’d make a fine Commander in Chief.
That’s my case, I believe without delving into any of your caveats.
And we’ll still lose in a landslide, time to make a stand now and send the RNC a message”
They are. “WE don’t know who you are any more, but we support you any way’”
Well, against what’s left of the field, there seem to be 226 FReepers willing to anonymously toss their support to him in the latest poll. (I don’t know who they are, being a ‘None of the Above’ type, myself.)
You couldn’t be more wrong and you will find out. While it’s only anecdotal, every member of my family that has always voted in the past for the GOP, is going to stay home this year. It might be only one story, but I know with all my heart that this year is going to be a spanking like we’ve never seen of the GOP. I’m pissed off so much I can’t even see straight. I’m so mad at Republicans right now and the behavior I’ve experienced the last few weeks has me wondering if I’ll ever vote for one again. I won’t vote for a democrat but my faith in this party is gone too. What a bunch of stupid jack asses. They don’t call this the stupid party for no reason.
Enjoy your spanking this November. It’s well deserved! It’s just too bad that we all are going down with you. It’s too late now but I will enjoy seeing McCain have his ass handed to him while he is exposed for what he really is. If this is really what the Republican party has become, a bunch of greedy, selfish people willing to sell out their own country and exploit our military for political points, then I have no more respect for this party than I do the Democrats. No more respect at all!
Vote for him, nope, not a chance. I hate liars more than any other type of person. It’s a sign of the TRUE CHARACTER of the person.
In all fairness, you can't compare Iraq to WWII. They had standing armies that could be defeated. Iraq has jihadists that enter the country from other countries. And they get support from countries that we AREN'T fighting. We defeated Iraqs army easily. It's the foreign terrorists, Al Qaeda, Iran etc that are keeping us fighting. We aren't fighting a nations standing army.
I will not vote for Hillary or Obama. John McCain can convince me between now and November to vote for him. If he does not, I will not vote for President. I am under no obligation to validate a repugnant choice with a vote. McCain and others will tell me he is the only way. He may not be a way at all. McCain and others will tell me that the Democratic nominee will mean disaster. That is not certain. McCain and others will tell me that it is because of me that Democrats made a bad choice for America since I did not stop them. Baloney. I am tired of the imagined obligation that I must stop this country from committing suicide. I have no such obligation. If this country is so close to suicide, or entering the dark ages, or crushing freedom, then I can’t save it, and it does not deserve to be saved.
“I thought Dane supported his other open borders amigo, the huckster.”
Come now, there is no tangible difference.
Closing Guantanamo Bay is not supporting the war. Declaring that waterboarding is torture and we shouldn’t use it, is not supporting the war IMO. Leaving the southern border open so terrorists can infiltrate the US is not supporting the war. Settling for McCain is not going to get us more conservativism, it will instead get us more liberalism. The reason we have such terrible choices now is because we have been constantly settling for the lesser of two evils. Maybe the pain of having a Democrat administration will wake people up like the Carter administration did.
Now I do.
