How Many Freepers Will Leave The GOP?
Man50D

Posted on 02/07/2008 10:39:44 AM PST by Man50D

Romney has now bowed out of the race leaving only McCain, Paul and Huckabee. It's impossible the latter two have any chance of garnering enough delegates to win the nomination. That leaves McCain. He has slapped Conservatives in the face more than enough times by siding with Socialist Democrats on issues. It's clear McCain will take the GOP farther to the left. The question now becomes how many of you have had enough of the GOP abandoning Conservatism and will in turn leave the GOP?

My great-great-something grandfather was a Signer of the Declaration.

****
That is marvelous that you have that.

I do not know anyone past my grandparents,
all of whom are gone.
Some in from Canada,England,France,Norway on one side
the other Irish married Italian.

From Boston yet.
I guess that was Bit of a challenge.
heh.

So,I effectively personally knew all of
em who got it done here.

For me it is the immediacy of the struggle,
the living memory that makes me appreciate
this place.

Folks can easily take this country for
granted, like it is supposed to be this way,
that it is somehow automatic.

The fight never ends.

[Not leaving at this point.]

Me either but I would love for a true conservative, young enough to be viable, to step forward and begin the conversation towards a Conservative Party.

"Sorry, Mr. Savage, but anything with the word “nationalist” in it sounds like NAZI. Better think of another word. "

I agree with that!

Fine. Vote for SuperRINO McCain and if the past is a lesson, you’ll get twice the number of RINOS on the slate next election.

Due to the fact that the new titular head of the Republican party is a liberal, as is the new base that nominated him, I'd say they set the new standard for what a Republican is. If you're a conservative in the Repub party, YOU are the RINO, not a liberal.

If I didn’t leave the GOP when Fred Thompson dropped out, why would I leave the GOP now that Mitt ‘faux conservative’ Romney dropped out?

The past successes of varous RINOs have given them the "all clear" to go ahead and be the most liberal they can be. That is why they disdain us conservatives now.

RINO POLICE!

See previous post. Conservatives are the new "RINO".

McCain/Thompson would be a good team. McCain is good for independents while Thompson would appease Conservatives.

That is so true. We can’t go to the Freedom Store to get more after we’re out of stock.

The Constitution party has been around for a good while now, without having much impact. Looking at Wiki, they sound to me a lot like RP. I just happened to copy this part:

"The liberal civil rights group Southern Poverty Law Center has voiced similar concerns and views the party's "cult-like" rhetoric as an invitation to commit violent acts to achieve a society not unlike that envisioned by the Iranian Revolution.[28] The Party is also involved with the Christian Exodus, the Unregistered Baptist Fellowship, and other secessionist/separatist groups.[29]"

They have many related splinter groups throughout the country.

They have a lot of seemingly popular positions however, they seem to exist in a backwater type position in today's political world. This is probably the fate of any new third party, also.

I’m gone gone gone...

I’ll vote for Conservative politicians only, regardless of party. If a decent 3rd party arises, include me in.

Do you have any suggestions besides voting GOP?

Just writing in a name does NOT get counted. Conservatives need to have a candidate they can vote for>

Gone. I’m not a Republican, I’m a conservative. And I don’t mean a “one issue I’m gonna vote the way the preacher tells me to” conservative. I listen to talk radio and have decided to turn it off whenever I hear we HAVE to vote for McCain. I’m no longer comfortable being in a party filled with evangelical bigots — let them have it.

I will continue to vote for conservative candidates when I can find them or write them in.

Same here. I’ll vote for conservative candidates and in congressional and senate elections but only by candidate and by issue and no more automatic votes for the “R” candidate. Not any more. Conservatives, or nothing.
