How Many Freepers Will Leave The GOP?
Man50D

Posted on 02/07/2008 10:39:44 AM PST by Man50D

Romney has now bowed out of the race leaving only McCain, Paul and Huckabee. It's impossible the latter two have any chance of garnering enough delegates to win the nomination. That leaves McCain. He has slapped Conservatives in the face more than enough times by siding with Socialist Democrats on issues. It's clear McCain will take the GOP farther to the left. The question now becomes how many of you have had enough of the GOP abandoning Conservatism and will in turn leave the GOP?

If somehow Rudy would have won the nomination, I would have seriously considered becoming an Independent.

There is no time left this election cycle, but I think its time to consider forming a “Conservative Party”.

I heard that, too, although he might want to retool the name. “Nationalist” brings up a lot of bad memories...

I'm with you - I will remain a conservative, even if the nominee of the party isn't. I will continue to send faxes or emails or call my Senator and/or my congressman.

I am hoping mclame will at least find someone decent as his running mate.

Look, we can always register as a Republican again on a moment’s notice, but registration numbers are seen by the party elite. It’s time they get a wake up call.

Exactly. Dropping the "R" is a nice, easy, painless way to "send a message" without doing something stupid like voting for a Marxist DemoRat (regardless of whether or not you vote for the liberal socialist Republican candidate instead).

I will not leave the GOP, but I do plan to vote third-party for president in 2008.

I will continue to support conservatives at the local, state and federal/Congressional level.

For me, the template is Ford/Reagan/Carter in 1976.

Exactly!!!! So we’ve lost the battle for POTUS, doesn’t mean we’ve lost the war. There are many good Conservative Jr. Senators and Congressmen that need our support. Kick out the old crap and nurture the newbies with solid principles. That way we can counterbalance the Socialistic trends.

Nope. They sure don’t, but neither do McCain or Huck. If any of them represent what you believe, vote for them.

I’m not voting for Ron Paul under ANY circumstances. He’s a KOOK. I’m a Conservative. I’ll wait now, and see which liberal wins. Then wait for the worst.

Not leaving at this point.

It's much harder to send a message to the party leaders when you leave.

I plan to send a message.

Vote for Republican senators and congressmen, that is what I say ...

My Republican governor is Charlie Crist who wants to give convicted felons the vote!
My Republican senator is Mel Martinez ... Gag! Gag! Gag! Until 2012.
My Republican congressman is Lincoln Diaz-Ballart ... who sent me an email supporting amesty! No one ran against him in the primary.

It looks like my Republican presidential candidate will be John McCain.

Now it looks like I’m the RINO if these people are the Republican Party.
I wonder who’s running for Dog Catcher in November.

Another (conservative) independent here. No need to leave anybody but really no one to vote for either.

Well, it is true that we can still vote for whoever we like in November, even if not registered in that same party.

It’s only primaries where you have to be the same party in some states.

but registration numbers are seen by the party elite. It’s time they get a wake up call.

They don't care about numbers...They have been having extreme difficulties getting money from us, and yet they still did what they did!

There is no benefit to getting out. They only count votes and don't care if they come from independents, as long as they get them..

I wish people would use their heads on this. This was a contested primary, and something we have not experienced in a long while. The party figures that the votes will come because they won't go to the Dem's. They figure we have little or no choice and that we should cave.

Getting out does not signal anything. Getting even does.

I will stay in the Republican Party if their platform remains pro-life, pro-family. We worked too hard for a conservative platform, and I am not going to leave it over a liberal Presidential candidate. Wake up! We have not had a solid conservative president since Reagan. If we pressure McCain, he might pick a conservative Vice-President, stick with the principles of the platform, and keep his mouth shut about what he really is. He knows he has to have us or the party will split, and Hillary is in. This is exactly what the Dems planned. You split the party, they win, and then nobody wins. I don’t like McCain, but I don’t think a well oiled crime machine is behind him.

The exact opposite will happen, more will come, and don’t count on Hillary. Things are changing........
