Posted on 02/06/2008 6:07:03 AM PST by PurpleMan

He wasn't interested in 2000 and said he's done but....

Draft Dick Cheney

He has the conservative creds &I'd love to have him go up against "Oclinton."

Yea, I know. The nine-week campaign would probably kill him - literally.

Cheney would get blown away by Clinton. The problem with a brokered convention is that you can’t just nominate someone who hasn’t proven himself on the campaign trail, and have any prayer of winning.

It will not be a brokered convention. If McCain is a few votes short of the nomination, some of Huckabee’s supporters will go to McCain to put him over the top. I think people need to let go of the Brokered convention idea (even if it was brokered, McCain would still control more than 40% of the delegates).

FWIW - I believe McCain will get to more than 50% anyway, so this is simply an amusing debate.

My father (my >70 father) told me this whole primary was a charade. I am beginning to think he is right.

Dick Cheney wants to go fishing.

Drafting an old man not interested does not work.

The GOP brokering already occurred in the smoky back rooms of the Senate just prior to the Florida primaries. McCain will be anointed as the nominee. He’s next in line, after all. The country club membership has spoken. Now, shut up, take it like a party peon and go vote for McCain. Brush up on your espanol while you’re at it. It’s gonna come in handy when you’re asked by the GOP to work the precincts heavily laden with illegals.

1. A brokered convention is becoming less and less likely.

2. Cheney has made it apparent through his words and deeds that he does not want the job.

3. Cheney is probably the only Republican less popular than Bush right now. He would lose in a landslide.

How about Cheney vs Obama in a UFC sanctioned championship fight for POUTUS?

So he’s lose.

So will McCain, Romney, or Huckabee.

But at least the GOP would be represented by a conservative and have one to vote for.

But is not the GOP holding on to conservatism the whole radio/blogosphere argument?

Ah, hell. it’s academic anyhow.

He’ll use William Tecumseh Sherman’s quote: “If nominated, I will not accept; if drafted, I will not run; if elected, I will not serve.”

I s'pect McLame will win the GOP nom...
NOT my first or anyone's best choice... JMHO
But now simple math begins to tell the story!

[ASSUMPTION: HIS health does not fail him on the campaign trail!]

**********

He may pick Huckaboom to attempt to rally the evangelical community [unlikely]...

If he picks Michael Steele or J.C. Watts to counter the Obama diversity factor... better chance of standing down Her Heinous OR Osama Obama...

Just my humble 2-cents...

John Nance Garner said, “The vice-presidency of the United States as “not being worth a bucket of warm piss.”

The only thing less important in an election is the selection of the VP.

Drinking Coffee Since last night I have heard the following:
  • Huckabee should be VP for one term and then McCain will quit
  • Huckabee should ask Romney to be his Vice President
  • Lou Dobbs should enter the race
  • A distress call for Rush Limbaugh to run

And now today I'm hearing calls for Vice President Cheney.  Desperation has an odor to it that opponents can smell!

GOP needs a good spanking to reset some parameters and remember who they work for. And its not T. Kennedy.

Draft Santorum/Gingrich!

Just imagine how fun a Cheney / Clinton debate would be.
I would give anything to see that.

I agree with you all though.
The GOP train is headed for a McCain crash.

Indeed. I love them, but does anyone seriously believe that a majority of Americans would vote for Cheney after all the garbage thrown at him in the last 8 years, or Rush, who is not a politician anyway? Dream on. (But I’m still not voting for McCain).
