Why Are Many Conservatives Leaders Endorsing McCain? (Vanity)
2/5/2008 | Self

Posted on 02/05/2008 5:58:30 AM PST by Obadiah

Serious question. John McCain has a conservative rating of something like 88%. He is a "maverick" who genuinely seems more comfortable working with Democrats. John McCain has dissed conservatives on numerous occasions and authored such abhorent legistaion such as McCain/Feingold. He is for open borders (depending on the day you ask him).

Now, Sam Brownback, Tom Coburn, Phil Gramm, Jack Kemp, Ted Olson, Richard Land, and perhaps Nancy Reagan have either formally endorsed or have voiced support for John McCain? Why are these people endorsing McCain??

Seriously, I cannot grasp this. Why do I have this big disconnect? I do not want John McCain. Why is he being rammed down our throats?

Is it simply "his turn"? Is it because there is no alternative now? Why didn't more people jump on the Fred bandwagon? Do we really want Bob Dole 2.0?

The MSM have had a love afair with McCain as they do with RINOs like Chuck Hagel, Richard Lugar, or any other "Republican" willing to spit on other Republicans. McCain seriously considered switching Parties. McCain was seriously considered as John Kerry's running mate. What's going on?

“John McCain is the 2008 version of Gerald Ford and Bob Dole.”

I knew Gerald Ford and McCain couldn’t carry his jock strap. If McCain is nominated, the Republicans will lose.

Members of the party establishment and Washington insiders “club”.

They’ll kill us all with their arrogance...but they got theirs so they don’t really seem to care much.

Why don’t you add some real conservatives to your post? No one you have listed is much of a conservative.

The MSM has selected McCain to be nominated, probably because Shrillary knows she can destroy him in the general. (See the thread about the CIA having files proving McCain’s cooperation with the enemy while a POW.)

Why Republicans pay any heed to the MSM escapes me. The MSM is enemy.

It’s simple: many Republicans place power and status above values.

Saw this on the TV screen this AM: McCain (R-AZ)

And this is what I thought: McCain (La-R-AZ-a)

Because McCain endorsed them in their own campaigns. He’s been working behind the scenes since 2000 to line up support from all of these people. Romney is an outsider who doesn’t have the relationships McCain has developed with Republican leaders.

The RNC have decided it’s his turn. He doesn’t have many good years left, after all...if he winds up as the nominee and winning the election, he had better have a DARNED GOOD vice president, in case he uh...well, in case the number of good years he has left aren’t as many as hoped.

“meets the minimum requirements for a republican president.”

What are these requirements?

I have been wondering who he (McCain) plans on sending down to GITMO, he claims he is against government waste and I have read the facilities down there work quite well for ‘insurgents’.

The “his turn” phenomenon does mean a lot to millions of uninformed Republican primary voters.

Because these guys are all politicians themselves.

They are playing the odds, that if McCain does win the WH they can say "see! I supported you at crunch time!----now which country am I going to be ambassador to?"

They don't have friends, only interests. Not withstanding McCain has been around Washington HOW LONG?

He is just calling up his old friends is all.

If Romney did the same thing in his circle of friends it would be a bunch of people you never heard of.

McCain is a career politician my friend.

I sure as heck are not endorsing him. I, would like to know who awarded him his hero status? What is heroic about having something happen to you that you have no control over.
To me a hero to me is someone who puts his own life at risk to save anothers.
John McLame is no hero!

“They think he’s winning...”

Further demonstration, if you needed it, that these people are out of touch with American voters and are ALL right out of their minds. Every one of them is drunk on power and married to their own personal agendas...

I am sick of all of them, that said, nothing will ever make me vote Liberal.

However, the Liberals are banking on Conservatives staying home or voting Liberal out of anger and frustration. Believe it, they’re loving all this!

It was said that FDT did not get much primary backing because voters were not "sure" if he was "serous" about running, even after he gave up Law and Order. People are funny (and uninformed).
